My PSP sat lonely on my nightstand for months until the weekend. Yes, I finally retired it to the inside of my Dresser where all of my unplayed GBA games sit. What the hell is going on with Sony? They've got this amazing piece of hardware and they don't seem to have any interest in making me want to use it. I feel really sorry for the people who traded in their PS2s for PSPs.
But no. This topic is not here to put down the PSP and talk about how worthless it is. It's here to talk about the great games that are going to make me pull my PSP out of my dresser, give it a kiss, make love to it, and cuddle it afterwards. I mean, it's sexy, right?
Here are the games:
My My Katamari
Loco Roco
Exit
Metal Gear Ac!d 2
FukuFuku Island
Talkman
Byte Hell 2000 (Click on the video tape in the lower-left corner. It looks nuts!)
Tenchi no Mon
Rockman Rockman
Street Fighter Zero 3 Upper
Irregular Hunter X
Monster Hunter Portable
Karakuri
Unnamed David Jaffe game that's going to make me cry.
Assuming at least a few of those don't suck, my purchase should pay itself off! Add other games you're interested in and any games you might like to come to the PSP.

Here are the real games:
My My Katamari
Loco Roco
Exit! (Potential!)
Metal Gear Ac!d 2 (meh)
FukuFuku Island
Talkman
Byte Hell 2000 (Well, after Wario Ware Touched I hold no hope for these games… then again Twisted was good. Anyways, not very original and won’t come out in the US)
Tenchi no Mon
Rockman Rockman (woohoo)
Street Fighter Zero 3 Upper (hell fucking no, have you played Darkstalkers? This system is not made to play fighters)
Irregular Hunter X (Potential)
Monster Hunter Portable (meh, at least the pig is cute)
Karakuri (potential)
Unnamed David Jaffe game that's going to make me cry. (you know how I feel about GoW)
To bad almost none of these are announced for the US.
I am still angry with myself. I should have at least held out for the white one. Then at least it would match my iPod and I could look disgustingly hip. Also, none of these so far would make me upgrade from my 1.5 firmware. |

Blasphemy. Watch the damn video!
My My Katamari will rock despite the non-analog controls. Have you ever played Smash TV on SNES? The controls are symmetric! Symmetric!
And yes, Street Fighter Alpha will be fine on the system. Have you played a Capcom fighter? Does your playing style use 6 buttons? Actually, I've played you in Street Fighter. You have no playing style! Ooooohhhh!
And Monster Hunter Portable will be great. The first one was really neat. Better than PSO in my opinion and wi-fi online will make this perfect to play while Christina is watching Inu Yasha.
FukuFuku Island is like Animal Crossing by the Jumping Flash team.
You're right about one thing... Tenchi no Mon might suck. It might also end up being really cool though so I didn't want to disregard it right away.
And it doesn't matter if they're confirmed for the US or not. The games are multi-region!

i concur. i've always thought this strange. it feels like twisted should have been the game that was created after touched, instead of vice versa.
that byte hell video is fantastic. i might get a psp if it becomes cheaper and i can figure out how to make this work. _________________

Play me at something I am decent at, such as GGXX or SF3:TS. And my style involves an arcade stick to begin with.
And Loco Roco looks alright. I mean, it does not look fantastic. It looks like you need to tilt it. I don't know anything aside from what I saw on the video, which makes it look ok. Nothing to make me upgrade to 2.0 |

I'm in total denial about my PSP. I haven't retired it, but for god's sake, I never play it.
Of course, I used to play it all the time, when I had a 30 minute train ride every day. But now I'm overwhelmed by the quality of home releases, and simply don't touch the machine.
Where's the KILLER game for the system? Hell, just one good RPG would have me fingerprinting my screen again. _________________ www.call-to-adventure.com

I think the real problem with the PSP is that it's foreshadowing the collapse of the industry. _________________ Wii #: 8749 9109 9732 3653

i may have exaggerated. but, still, the PSP represents everything in the industry that would destroy it. _________________ Wii #: 8749 9109 9732 3653

edits for clarity:
what's going to hurt the industry in the short run is not the creation of devices which appeal to a larger audience than just "gamers" but a saturation of the handheld market. after a while there's only so much room for growth unless other options are offered, regardless of one's like or dislike of said options.
i'm not of a mind to praise nintendo for much, mind you, so the idea of them or sony winning or losing 'the war' means little to me. all of them seem to see the writing on the walls, and know that what's coming is likely to shrink the market down to two competitors, or perhaps only one.
mind you, this ties into some economic issues in regards to what i (and others) see as the coming credit crunch, which will crush certain forms of entertainment in favor of the cheap and easily reproduceable. (pc gaming, namely) it will also destroy a large segment of the entertainment industry in the same way that the internet bust destroyed a large segment of "dotcom" companies.
[the magic word here is yield curve flattening]
on the plus side both events leave us with certain bonuses (incredibly cheap telecom infrastructure and computer cost/power ratios, worldwide adoption of cell phones which don't require nearly the same amount of physical materials to create networks, hence phones in remote parts of africa, etc) a push into flash and other small-form storage options, etc) and the minus sides are pretty obvious, except it's going to be really fucking bad for 3 to 4 years.
device convergence isn't that far off regardless of credit crunching, and we've probably seeing the last of the console releases as we know and understand them. _________________

I`ve actually always wanted a psp, but i am certainly not trading my precious ps2 for it!!
I like the fact that its not JUST games, its music and videos too which is something that touch-able-horn-pad can`t do.
So many people bash the PSP and I dont see whats crappy about it accept for the lack of AMAZING games for it. Just needs a while to stable itself I suppose. |

dhex- Is there any good summary of what this credit crunch business is all about? I've heard it mentioned in passing a lot lately. |

It's actually fairly affordable (dspassme.com sells a PassMe / GBAMP combo for $40) to mod the DS to play MP3s, videos, and homebrew off of a compact flash card. Just load up Moonshell, and you're off.
I've.. never bothered, though. I mean, I've got an MP3 Discman already. |

You use the L and R triggers.
Also, it looks like Seiklus! How can you not love it? _________________ where were you when nana komatsu got a wii? |

I've played Loco Roco, you know. It's... really good. Like Cameltry crossed with Seiklus, maybe. People keep telling me it's a Gish rip-off. I wouldn't know.
I was exchanging emails with its creator for a while. He started calling me "Susan", then stopped relpying. _________________

I think Loco Roco looks positively lovable. I wish it were on DS, but there you go. I don't want to have any more consoles around the house, even portable ones. Shelf space is limited these days.
Gish had some nice stuff with the different modes the character could go into. _________________ | Little bird fighting against a bat sect game | |
