Yeah! Woohoo! Right ? Everybody cares about that... except maybe those actually inside the borders. It doesn't change a thing, the politicians are playing with an idea and branding a symbol. |

And now it is clear that it sunk any higher political ambitions Ken Dryden might have had, nor or ever, and made Michael Ignatieff a lock for the party leadership. Michael Chong resigns, and is replaced by a man with the same name and creepy smile as my eighth grade math teacher.
Why did I not move to Canada after Bush v. Gore like I swore I would? Clearly this is the place for me. Oh well. |

Hi, my name's Adam, and I joined here a while ago, but never posted. I read a lot of the posts though. After a while I just thought screw and now I've posted three times. Yay?
Anyway, amongst my group of friends I'm considered "the geek" as I play video games, table-top games, Dungeons and Dragons, read comic books, fantasy literature, and anything by HP Lovecraft. I listen to mainly Death and Black Metal (and all related subgenres). I'm 16 and have no job!
Yeah, I'm not sure what all to put in an introduction. Haha. |

Hi. I just joined like two minutes ago. I like video games (durr) and drinking soda. I named myself after a can of name brand soda, you know. I also like drinking chocolate milk, and stroking my nonexistant beard while making humming noises.
I like to play mostly adventure games and platformers, so it makes sense that Psychonauts is one of my favorite games. I also really dig stuff like Shadow of the Colossus and ICO, and from the looks of it you folks dig those games too. Let's be friends! _________________ The only girl I've ever loved was born with roses in her eyes. Soymilk is very delicious. I prefer vanilla to chocolate soymilk, but chocolate is good in just about any context! _________________ The only girl I've ever loved was born with roses in her eyes. Hi. I probably should've done this earlier.
As of just a few weeks ago I'm a game translator. Prior to that I was just really interested n Japanese and video games and the attached nerd culture.
I wrote something about killing God in jRPGs that I think is maybe going in the next issue. |

I go by the handle of extrabastardformula when I'm on gaming forums. It's a holdover from my youth as a goth.
Nowadays I play emulated stuff of any kind I can get my hands on, and console styled freeware titles on my PC. I do have an X-Box for console goodness, though that too is going to be put to emulation use and stocked with Neo Geo roms at the earliest convenience.
By day I'm a cook, and on weekends I volunteer at the local organic produce co-op. I consider myself to be a fighter against hunger, and I understand the irony that comes from selling expensive food to rich folks while at the same time decalring that noone should have to pay to not be hungry.
In the past I was more active in taking food out to the streets, but the past five months have been really rough for getting out there with healthy vegan grub to those in need. Once my economic situation gets more on track I hope to do that harder.
Note that I am not personally a vegan, but something of a flexitarian with strong freegan tendencies. Much like Ness from Earthbound I will eat a hamburger I find in a trash can to ragain health.
Anyway, I love 2d fighting games, and for 3d I pretty much only really enjoy brawlers instead of typical 3d fighters, Bushido Blade being the main exception.
And I enjoy Jet Set Radio Future very much despite what I can recognize as some very glaring faults. |

The problem with food is that it goes off.
The problem with bombs, on the other hand, is that... oh, wait... |

Hi all.
I took a hiking trip a few months ago. When I got back, I found DPS to be dead. I posted as x3nocide over there. Came over here and found I had an old account I'd forgotten about.
So yeah. What happened to Don't Press Start? Marco get bored? |

Well you know I'm just a down-to-earth guy who's a bit tired of SBDN.
I did Food Not Bombs like three or four times, but for some reason I stopped. Perhaps because I realized I was TRYING to be indie? I don't know. |

hey. most of you know me, and i've been posting on TGQ for a while, so i think i'm only posting in this thread as a formality
i like the positive vibe and good discussion here, as opposed to that forum. maybe it's the white background?
i hope i will be to your standards, TGQ. _________________

It doesn't hurt that TGQ is so low profile by comparison. This may not even be the case, but It feels like SB has a lot more active posters, more people who will disagree with anything you might care to express. It's almost as if you have to take a combative tone just to get noticed. Argue first, and ask questions later.
Yeah, I think I like it better here, too. I don't like feeling like a misanthropist. |

it's a smaller forum and the vibe is, consequently, much more amicable. i think the white background has a subtle effect too: a black background is a lot more intense.
anyway, joe's good people. _________________

I don't know, a black background can be easy on the eyes in a dark room. DPS had a black background and I always found it to be a friendly place.
Anyhoo, I'm glad TGQ is small and friendly. |

new guy!
so... hi.
my name is Phil Fish, i am a designer.
by day i work as a level designer for some big montreal studio, no, not that one, not anymore.
and by night im an awesome indie/artsy/fartsy game designer/artist.
about a year ago i co-founded the kokoromi collective with fellow designer Heather Kelley, and later on Damien Di Fede, our coder.
back in november we organised this great big dance party/game jam thing called GAMMA 01. we invited a bunch of developer friends to make games from scratch around the idea of using the live music from the party to generate game-stuff.
we had a bunch of Djs, and a band playing all night while the 7 games that got submited all played on giant projector screens around the venue. all the games used the live music feed to do shit. it was organised with the Montreal International Game Summit, so the place was packed and the free booze was flowing. much dancing, gaming, schmoozing and drinking was had by all.
right now were working on this series of small games called DISCOGRAPHY. we like to think of it as "our bit-generations". except its all rythm games, but we're researching alternative interfaces/game designs. in other words, we're making a bunch of rythm games that arent gonna be about hitting the right burron when the note hits the line.
we're trying to find other ways to let a player know what button to press when.
on a non-game note, i am a huge nerd about a number of things.
i watch a shit-ton of downloaded TV, read a bunch of comic books, and listen to lots of music, go to shows, etc etc. you know, the usual.
that was a long intro.
lets be friends. _________________ you cant spell selfish without fish |

some of them were.
we kinda droped the ball about that.
our website is a joke right now.
a sad sad joke with no punchline.
but we're working on that.
Glee is somewhere in there.
but in all seriousness, all those games were a lot more fun in their "natural environment".
and i prolly shouldt say this but goatscape was so so.
you have a 360 now, just wait for space giraffe. rumor says you will soon.
i have big balls and cosmo crash were totally awesome tho.
we're working on the next gamma right now.
its gonna be something else tho.

Yeah, Arcadia was really terrible last year. I think I ended up spending more time in line waiting to get in (and waiting to leave!) than I did checking out the floor. I didn't even know there were conferences or panels going on - it was really poorly organized.
At least the first time it wasn't crowded and the performances were part of the main event, so it felt like it was worth it. |

Oh, there's one of these topics, is there?
G'day, I'm Patrick; I'm a cartoonist. I used to write about videogames for a living. I called Psychonauts the best game ever made, and they put that quote on the box of the Australian PS2 version, which felt a bit odd because I might not have said it about the PS2 version.
Right now, my job is teaching English. But soon, it will be writing about videogames again!
Plus teaching English on the side for MONEY UP!
I made a videogame last year -- a music-based scrolling shooter starring a retarded bee. It's called Chu-Chi, it's deeply flawed, and it's here. I think you might like it.
I lurk on these forums more than any other forums. Except now I post. I like it here and I'm happy to be joining in.
If you want to see my comics and things, please visit my website.
I am very good-looking. |

what a beautiful story of generosity and sharing.
My name's Chris Balser. Past ego searches on me have turned up a crappy artist and a yoga instructor in Baltimore. I am not a yoga instructor.
I have a subsite on deviantart that I no longer post to or maintain, really, but only because I haven't bothered scanning any new material.
I am very slightly autistic. This has led to me honing over the years a Social Weapon: a sense of humour few other people (ie, generally nongamers) understand or find amusing.
In my spare time I like to play video games. I like older games and some newer games, but mostly older games. Until very recently I was never a big fan of 3D, and even still generally prefer lovingly-crafted sprite-based or text-based games.
I also play a lot of tabletop roleplay games, and until recently have consistently been engaged in some MMORPG or another. Currently my fiancee and I fire up Lunia very rarely. We're waiting for Age of Conan and taking a break from "that' style of game in general.
I hold an esteemed position rife with fortune and fame with Domino's, as a local deliverer of pizza. In Iowa City, IA. I attend the University of Iowa and a local community college (because it's cheaper) and am aspiring to acquire dual degrees in physics and art.
Given sufficient funding and scientific progress I would put my brain in a robot body.
I have a cat, and live with my fiancee and her sister and their eleven cats and three dogs.
I like to make Crawl characters based on my manager at Domino's. His name is Du. His managerial password is dudu. He's a funny guy.
Also, I am typically either very late or very early to discover things that I then love. In this case, I am the former. _________________
