Isn't the top-left one someone's avatar here? This had better not be my imagination talking.

I managed to get this for $15 because of Gift Cards.

It's really good.

I was happy about that. I liked to imagine that the european distributors read this thread.

I'm going to get this game. I figured it would be one of those games that reviews badly but is actually really good, so I'm glad to see you guys are saying as much. Actually, that's what's great about this forum, that I get to read opinions that I actually respect.

I saw a VC console of Starfox 64 that gave it 60%! Apparently it's 'too short'. No shit, you're supposed to be able to finish it every time you pick it up. 60% for one of the best games of all time. Mainstream games reviewers are punks.

Yea I'm trying to recommend this to a friend but all the suggestions in the world won't override IGN's "this game is awesome but don't buy it!" review. Sad

That just means you'll be able to get it on discount sooner rather than later.

You should just buy it for your friend, it's really worth plunking down the money for it. If they like it enough you can squeeze the money out of them later.

I'm about halfway through gold medaling all the stages (not the mirrors and probably not all the space ones), and when I do, expect a best times thread.

dmauro, if you start a "best times" thread be sure to include Kirby Canvas Curse and Umihara Kawase.

You don't even want to see some of my sick Kirby Canvas Curse times (but in case you do). I lost my original cart and some of my best times, but I've been going through and getting good times on them again. Unfortunately I suck at Umihara Kawase Sad

The thing about Umihara Kawase is that I have a lot of grand ideas to execute, but I am totally unable to perform them most of the time.

Have you played the PS1 version? I find that the physics are no where near as stiff as the SNES version which makes doing some awesome stuff actually manageable when you're at the intermediate levels of skill. It also looks very gorgeous. The PS1 version is up at Home of the Underdogs if you want it: Umihara Kawase Shun.

Yeah, but I don't know whether or not burned CDs will degrade a PSOne's laser lens. They do it to Duos, you know? I don't want my hardware to die!

Also, the car ball fucking rocks. I am having trouble tilting the remote properly when the course requires me to turn it 90 degrees.

i honestly don't get why people feel like the superfamicom game feels stiff. maybe it's because y'all are playing it in emulators? i play umihara on my snes, courtesy my game doctor sf7, and it controls exactly as i expect it to.

Nah, I played it on original hardware. I guess that what I wanted to do was simply impossible.

And I'm playing it on Crazy Bacon Lips' original hardware now.

This seems to be one of those games that has suddenly clicked for me- it never made sense when I played it emulated, but suddenly in the context of TV/Couch/Sprawled simplicio it's a glorious thing.
Same with Ogre Battle, incidentally. Perhaps this is psychosomatic nostalgia, but it works!

Anyway, I absolutely suck at Umihara still; it's just more pleasing to play now. No 5 minute runs for me!

Yeah, Ogre Battle is a lot harder to play on an emulator for some reason. Just sitting there in a nice chair with a hot coffee in your hands a few feet away from the screen really changes things somehow.

The candy was wonderful! I've lauded your packing skills in the trade thread. Thanks again!

If it's the SNES version, a lot. The PSX one has a mid-level temporary save. And those battles will easily last over an hour, if done on a slow speed (which they have to be. Sometimes that is even too fast).
