You're missed!

I'm nice and snug between Baton Rouge and Beaumont, TX. - yes! - two cities that made the list.

Man, if it's more dangerous than Compton, Detroit, and New Orleans, I must be keepin' it real up here yo!

Fer real.

Shit, though, seriously, I take public transportation every day and work downtown. I could see more violence in any given week in New Orleans than I have seen here the whole time.

But really, I miss you guys.

Yeah, New Orleans didn't bother submitting its figures.

Maybe 5 minutes from my house. Not far from "The Playa Superstore".

I don't have a flicker account, so I'll just have to tell you that my bedroom window over looks three houses currently occupied by sorority girls. Sometimes they even sunbathe. It's dangerous living!

When I lived on 125th street, I could hear the 1 (and the 9 when it existed) run all the time, since it was above ground. And it never bothered me! Along with the shitty small apartment, I felt like a Blues Brother.

Yeah, I thought you might recognise that. It's one of my first and best memories of Portland.

Speaking of subways by your house:

I hear the BART trains at night and it is quite soothing.

Keeping on with the Portland-loving (and not quite derailing the topic), you should really pick up Chuck Palahniuk's Fugitives and Refugees. It's an absolutely hilarious guide to the more bizarre sights of the town that you'd never hear about from a 'real' travel guide. Also, Chuck lives there in Stumptown, so make with the celebrity stalking! I'd help but I've got my hands full down here keeping tabs on Bruce Campbell.

How could this be derailing the thread? PDX (as between the two of us we throw out every single nickname for Portland) is south of Canada!

Yeah, I've heard of that book, and often considered picking it up. Now I will, thanks!
