|
|
Faithless, writer ala Gamer's Quarter (and Infrequent Poster at IC) is in New York City. With a SHOW. Faithless is performing under the name "Heather" in a sketch show at UCB called, "The Jim and Heather Show." I'm desperate for friends to come see. So ...
Please come see it. I've never been to New York before, and now I'm here with my comedy. And I'm doing the show for Important People. Come laugh so that these Important People know when to laugh, because there is an inverse proportion between power and sense of humor. (These important people are from a show on NBC. You can see them in the audience, too.)
There is one video game bit in the show. It is not a Final Fantasy bit, it is just a BIT. Like a single joke in another sketch. Well, a bit, more than a joke. Anyway, you can see that bit (and others) at 8:00 at UCB. I hope to meet you on Monday Night!\

Dess, I'm sorry; I don't know the price. That's not my department. I would guess Ten Bucks, but I'll see if I can put you on the list, since you're strapped for case.
Everyone who's thinking about coming: MAKE RESERVATIONS. We're at 60 people now, and I don't want you guys to trek all the way across town and miss out.
As far as the after-bar is concerned, since I have no idea about anything in New York, I'll at your disposal. The bar is Choice: You! _________________ www.call-to-adventure.com

But needlessly fact-checking is my department! The UCBT Schedule says $5.
You can also apparently reserve tickets from that website. _________________ It's the saw of the table! |

O, dess, you could always takes the subways, I'll be taking it anyway. And, so sad, if you won't make it, for, as is usually the case with these things, sub and I will be the only people that show up. _________________

There usually filled with young drunks and other assorted trash. It's even worse for me, because I usually return at two or so, and the busses don't run that late, which means that I have to walk for an hour to get to my apartment. _________________

that sucks. i usually use the express bus to get into and out of manhattan, but it doesn't run that late.
my ex insisted they upholster the seats in that bus with the same material they make bowling shoes out of. _________________

a taxi would be nice.
thats the safest method i know of regarding late night travel as they travel the streets looking for <s>victims</s> customers. its a little costly though. it will probably cost you around $13 to get to the bronx. the trick is finding a good one.
busses and subways have really limited limited schedules at night so it would take a long time to wait for one to ride on. the high traffic lines are a bit better.

I don't know New York at all, so I can't plan the after-party, or choose the bar. All the places I know are in LA.
This is actually my first four days here, ever.
And to be forewarned, I'm going to stay for the second half of the show (which is my friend Brendan Hunt doing Five Years in Amsterdam), so I can't leave the theater till 9:00 or so.
For those just coming to the bar, I supoose I could post where we're going from my PSP. Unless someone has a sidekick. PSP posting sucks. _________________ www.call-to-adventure.com

Jeez, from New York to E3 in a week.
I'm very jealous, and just when I was coming to terms with how pathetically boring and inane my life is, too. |

I haven't been to Bend in years. It's a shame, too, as it's one of the pleasently least desolate towns in eastern Oregon. Too bad it's getting so touristy.
I don't know of The Grove, but then again the last time I was in Bend, I was sufficiently underage not to be very concerned with clubs, etc.
It's interesting that your empire spans all the way to good ol' Orygun, though--how did this contact come about, if you don't mind my asking? |

Alright, here's a bit about the show -- forgive me if it's brief, I'm really exhausted~!
Monday night, the reservations for the show topped 80 people. That's a healthy congregation when you consider we aren't NY locals. SNL writers and actors attended, which is great ... and for any other comedian, it would be earth-shaking, but I'm friends with these guys -- part of their fraternity -- so their attendence wasn't surprising ... but it was still quite considerate and delightful.
I wasn't super satisfied with the show itself. We've made a lot of changes to the show recently; it's half personal, half sketch material now. It floats inbetween showcase and show. The response was strong, but muted in comparison to the laughs that followed (which were earned by my good friend Brendan Hunt in his one-person show). We'll work the show for a little while longer here in LA, but I think The Jim and Heather Show is about to be laid to rest. We're working on a video game show now, so there'll be more reason for you to attend when we come to NY next time.
After, I met Sergei. It's hard to get to know someone well on such strange terms, but he seemed like a really great guy. He came with us to a local bar for a little while, and we swapped stories about the good ol' days. Sergei talked about video gaming and Russia, and I talked about Gaming and Comedy. He had on a great red jacket!
I don't know if Jim and I will ever really know if the show got us NY buzz or not, but I have few regrets about the performance, and fewer about the booking. We have a shot at an audition for SNL in the fall, but it's the smallest one. Still, that's more than most get in a lifetime, and I'm deeply grateful for it.
PS Thank you all for your interest in the show. Next time I hope to see more of you there! _________________ www.call-to-adventure.com

Ms. Faithless reminded me of a character from Gundam Wing. Her appearance, I mean. She told me a funny story about anime and lesbians in Tokyo.
I first introduced myself as James "Mr. Mechanical" and thought about running with that for awhile, but corrected myself. I did this because calling myself Mr. Mechanical just seemed to make sense at the time. During the show my Korean friend called me to apologize that he couldn't make it. Then he got mad at me, when I told him that I was meeting a female. "Man, what the fuck, you could tell me. I thought you were meeting guy. I am your teacher of Korean language. Next time tell me you are meeting girl or not." _________________

It's a hard comparison to avoid, considering you do your shows in a massive robotic exoskeleton. Still, I was very impressed by your comicha. _________________ It's the saw of the table! |
