My wrist is kind of hurting, so I took a little break from work. Anybody have experience with repetitive stress from typing too much or whatever?
I guess I'll keep this short. _________________

yes.
short version - braces help. rest helps a lot. physical therapy helps.
doing the stuff that hurts you doesn't help.
long story short: find a new line of work/hobby if you want to avoid surgery. _________________

no, but i am TUFF.
also, i just have a high threshold to pain and realize i can't keep being a designer for more than another 2 years or so, hence my moving more into the marketing/pr side of things and basically abandoning console gaming (i find the joystick stuff just plain fucking hurts) _________________

man knees are bad news too. my mom's post-polio syndrome has been messing her up lately, though she's probably on the road for a TJR procedure at some point in the next three years since cortisone doesn't help that much. _________________

Dhex, I imagine you'd be one of those guys who'll go in for brain surgery in the morning, have 5 bolts drilled into your head, get circuit boards shoved into the malleable parts of your cerebellum, and then come out of it fine enough to hit the bar with the boys. :/ _________________

Beatmania IIDX gives me pain in my wrists SO BAD.
Seriously. It does.
I had to stop playing the game because I'm pretty sure I would end up with surgery.
Also, my mother in law had carpel tunnel (sp?) surgery. Her hand looks all nasty now and it really really hurt. She lost some fine motor skills from it too.
