i am intrigued by the reviews i've read, but i passed on it when looking at the box requirements. i meet them - obviously, sniff sniff - but they were phrased really strangely.

when i hear stuff compared to deus ex and questions about moral choices, etc, i get x-cited.

Ok, from what I recall, the tale goes something like this:

One magazine in the UK gave it a 9.

Its rival mag gave the game a 3.

Cue a train wreck of a forum topic accusing one mag of being bribed.

Most people claim the game is broken to the point of being so bad, it's good in a funny bad way.

I've not played it, but after seeing that fiasco unfold and all the controversy (sp?), I'd steer clear of it unless it's like $10.

I'm also... roughly 85% certain we're talking aboutt he same PC FPS here... I'd check my back issues, but I'm really lazy. Hopefully someone else can confirm.

I remember the French magazine I used to read completely trounced it, denouncing it as being rushed and bugged to all hell, which is quite sad, considering the potential.

Now I'm left hoping that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will actually be worth it.

Boiling Point is a disaster at retail. It received a couple of "This is the last 45 days of development time we asked for" patches in the month and bit following release, and if you start by playing the fully patched Boiling Point *deep breath* hey look, it's a pretty cool Adventure/ RPG-inflected jungle FPS. Definitely does stuff you wouldn't expect, but you must deliver CPR with those post-release patches to witness this experiment in a less damaged state.
