I went to see a play today.

I went because my friend played a minor role in the show. The entire show took place in a seedy rundown wearhouse in Santa Monica that was converted into a seedy rundown theatre. The stage was a giant room with a red brick wall and the audience's seating consisted of 4 rows of chairs facing the wall. The entire play was handled in the modern style where everything was imaginary - the actors don't wear any costumes and there are no props. Every actor wears black and they mime all the actions instead. Also, because there's no tradtional division between audience and stage, the stage is actually dynamically moving all around the audience at all times. It's this new fangled non-theatre style, you see. It was very dynamic in a die-nah-mic style of dynamitic proportions.

In any case, the story takes place in a post-Rodney King Los Angeles and centers around a Korean small market owner, his underground rebellion mercenary assassin employee, a street gang, and the Korean mafia. It had to do with interracial conflicts and tensions between Koreans, African Americans, and miscellanous races during a period of civil unrest and heavy immigration. It attempted to say a lot but unless you happen to be Korean or were involved with the times, a lot of the story would be lost upon you. Alas!

It was a strange experience though. I could honestly feel at times when some dialogue felt a bit pushed - I could imagine the writer sitting in a dark room staring at his computer monitor rubbing his head in annoyance as he just goes ahead and puts in certain dialogue anyway. The ending was also rewritten and effectively destroyed a good deal of what the story was trying to build up to, instead opting to end the play with a television audience friendly conclusion of unsatisfying non-happiness. Content versus content-ment, I suppose.

Well, in any case, if you live around Los Angeles, go watch this play:
"Bucket in a Closed Room"
at the
Caf・Club Fais Do Do Annex
5253 W Adams Bl Los Angeles, CA 90016

Feb 25th, 26th and March 4th, 5th 11th and 12th 8:00 PM Admission $10
Adult Language and Violence

For info phone: S John Daniels 323-932-1235

Ticket prices are ten dollars. That's $10, a little bit more than a movie theatre but much more personal and dynamic (die-nah-mike!). If you are interested in attending and want information personally, send me a message. Or something. If you do go, look for my friend Seong Park after the show; he'll be alternating roles as the Korean Pastor or the Korean son.

DON'T DO IT FOR ME; DO IT FOR YOURSELF.

Next time on Persona's story corner:
CLAMP NEEDS TO DIE
The story of the incredibly manipulative exploits of a group of women and their adventures in bastardizing popular trends and conjoining them into rediculously popular yet completely superficial chimeras for mindless-mass consumption.

DON'T MISS IT!

Your friend draws some nice boobs. I'm sorry, but it's true.

I look forward to seeing the comic.

Would Dess approve?

Also, Lestrade, you have no chance!
Kinuko has had years of official boob experience and has conditioned herself so that the only thing she can draw are sexy women! It's like fighting a river with a toothpick - hopeless yet somewhat wonderful.

you know what, though. i was actually clicking through your site today looking at sketches of ladies playing videogames. so i am not going to go ahead and possibly enforce some kind of double standard. (the one playing the psp is my favorite because she's warming her feet against a cat and that's the cutest thing ever.)

It's funny because what usually gets me out of bed is the fact that my bed is really uncomfortable after sleeping in it.

ProTip: Nancy = wife (She's the best wife ever.)

Thanks, by the way (I think?). I DO draw men playing vidoegames as well (as evidenced in the "Man Playing GBA" piece), but I see more interesting girls around town than guys, so it's their visages that I tend to steal for my meagre art.

So Kinuko (or as I so affectionately call her, "Failface") dragged me into drawing something too.

We were playing Rumble Roses earlier today. I forgot how much I liked Rowdy Reiko, especially now that she's in Metal Gear Online. Man, I wish I could play more right now.

Oh, and I suck at drawing sexy girls. They always kind of come out looking sort of cute instead of sexy-sexy. It upsets me to no end... :/

Hokay.

So yeah, Rumble Roses. I've wanted to play it for a long time, and Persona got a copy of it. Reiko is so cute! So I present to you:

I was excited for Rumble Roses XX (though I'm probably never going to pick up a 360), but I watched some trailers for it and was absolutely terrified. I like cute girls, but I felt like I was watching porn and it made me very uncomfortable.

Persona, Reiko's boobs are totally bigger than that. And sexy girls are the only thing I'm relatively good at drawing. Everything else is ... eh.

I approve of all this.

Also: reiko's boobs are not THAT big. Not that I'm complaining.

Also also: I demand a drawing of Candy Cane.

Cuuuute!

Okay, so. I was trying to draw Fiona from Haunting Ground (I know everyone hated that game, but I didn't and Fiona is so cute), and I tried and tried and tried and could not come up with anything that I was satisfied with. In the meantime, here is something from my sketchbook. It's not boobtastic or anything, but they're there.

I don't know who these two girls are, and it's not video game related in the least. It's just a filler for now.

Also, I like art school more than high school (which I am fresh out of). I'm still fascinated by the fact that no one will yell at me if I skip class.

Oh shit. I'm engaging in a "boob-off" against a fresh-from-high-school girl who's probably close to ten years younger than me and draws suggestive sketches of nearly-naked anime girls?

Take me away, officer.

Nice art by the way — both of you. I'd love to see more of your sketchbooks, Persona. I like how busy they are.

Well, it at least looks like I'm thinking about things, in a very haphazardly way.

Yeah, and Kinuko was totally jailbait until like last summer or something. Thus:
