Is it safe to talk about how Turrican has the most horrible control I've ever witnessed and how much I hate the fact that it takes down damage when you get hit without indicating your damage in any way other than the life bar decreasing?

Sure, it's safe. I'd start a Turrican thread if I could. Yeah, you're right on all counts. Super Turrican was pretty great though. Or was it just the pot talking back then? Who can say?

I hear you can roll up into a ball like in Metroid? I have never played this game, but I should make time for it. Those tilesets are lovely though! Looks like the formal art direction that I associate with the most renowned Amiga developers.

Well shit. Now the pressure is on.

I'll just have to play a bit when I get home so I can discuss intelligently.

Say, to whoever actually started this thread, I didn't mean that I can't start a thread, I just meant I wasn't sure anyone else would want to discuss it. But apparently they do!

I really like looking at the maps on the page for that PC port. There's something satisfyingly meticulous and mechanistic about videogame maps. Also, how obvious are the messages built into the levels? There seem to be an awful lot, even considering that this used to be a popular technique in level design.
