There's a DDR machine in Madonna's latest music video. I was kind of surprised, but hell, it fits. It's a dance machine for a game about dancing, and the video has to do with dancing and discos and the whole album is about dance and dance floors.

Not a bad song either, I'm actually considering buying the whole album to hear what the rest is like.

So let's make this a thread where we post the examples we spot of videogames appearing in the least likely places of the mainstream.

The Anthony Hopkins movie Titus has a whole arcade of unlabled Neo-Geo cabinets (RBFF:S). The odd thing? It is a word for word Shakespear revision type movie.

Why would that be odd in light of everything else?

Like gay fetish costumes and centurions with shotguns and Alan Cumming in the pope-mobile.

Would you believe she's almost fifty! Still, despite that bit of flab on her thighs and buttocks she's still quite a catch after all these years.

The first person to come to mind when I think of that movie is Julie Taymor, not Anthony Hopkins. And mainstream culture isn't anywhere in sight, either.

I'm thinking DDR bought their way into Madonna's video. Either that or it's another attempt to reach into "something that the kids are into these days."

There was that scene in The Beach that was all video-gamey like, which was pretty cool. But it was all for the purposes of a "lol dude that guy's fucked up he does too much drugs and videogames HE'S DISCONNECTED FROM REALITY" statement. The only part of the original book that I really liked was when the main character philosophized about the moment of "game over" in street fighter for gameboy and Aliens for... Super Nintendo, I think. It would have been a more direct statement had he been playing a text adventure and talked about the point where there's no turning back and you realize you're stuck.

I totally disagree. It's like watching your aunty prance around in a leotard. She's in good shape and all, but it still seems a bit unnatural.

Fuck yeah it's unnatural. I wouldn't want sex with Madonna any other way.

Ok I just watched the video and that has to be the worst use of DDR ever. Ever.

Also, she needs to not show so much skin. Something looks very bad with her butt.

Surely it's not as bad as Mario DDR.

It's not that bad of a video, but I expected some cardboard to go along with all the breakin'. I don't that's an unfair expectation.

Part of the problem with how Madonna looks is the awful lighting/filter/whatever they use in this and a lot of videos that makes everybody look like they're greasy heroin addicts in a filthy laundermat at 3am or something. I think the butt problem you mention is as much due to her heinous unflattering outfit as it is to an actual butt problem she's experiencing.

Er... that didn't sound right, did it?
