Anyone else living in Iowa, Ohio, Missouri, or anywhere else that's getting 500-year flood conditions lately?
Things are pretty rough in Iowa City right now - and honestly, of all the natural disasters I've lived through, this is the first flood. _________________

Best of luck!
I'd grab my pero and hit the Mississippi due north, but I don't think I would get there in time. _________________ Come to me, Mordel. We shall depart. |

Good luck. I been through the 1993 flood and it was nasty. Hope you have back up provisions. _________________ Signature:

In St. Louis we've had what I've considered really bad luck the past month, but ever since the really bad flooding started we haven't had any rain at all. I guess I should consider myself lucky now!
Either way, good luck!

I was in Germany during the '93 flood, so I've seen pictures and heard gab but no real firsthand experience. Yesterday we were down at the hamlet local to us (we live on top of a really big hill - so we're not so much concerned about being washed away as we are being flooded in) helping to put together sandbags and fortify, but...
I don't know that it's going to help. Here's a short video of Highway 6 ca. 8 PM last night... We drove through there at 5:30 or so and it was completely fine, no water on the street whatsoever.
I also put together a Photobucket album of pictures we took while we were out. We'll probably be getting more, provided we need to head into town for any reason.
How're things currently in St. Louis, Wes? _________________

ain't nobody left living in Cedar Rapids no more. Shit is ridiculous.
My happenings are all dry but it's a good thing I have no trips planned because all highways are swamped, save the internet. So there's nothing to do in This Island Ames but ride my bike around and slog through Dragon Quest VIIIIII. Woo! _________________

Think of how all those desperate displaced people will help the economy!

I'm in the same basket as you. I'll probably have power indefinitely (my power company's on a rise in Kalona) but my phone and internet are in Hills... which is slowly becoming submerged.
I've been chipping in at Hills to help shore the place up but every time I've gone they've had about double the people and half the sand they need. Haven't tried heading to Iowa City again yet, but I've been monitoring the news feed and things are pretty bad.
The Domino's I used to work at is flooded. _________________
