Keep in mind that my search of existing threads was pretty half-assed, but I didn't see a good discussion of the Super Robot Wars series anywhere on TGQ.

So, tell me, those who know what you're talking about: what's good? At a glance, SRW MX Portable for the PSP and SRW Alpha 3 appear to be the picks of the litter, but there are tons of older Super Fami and PS1 games that look good too. Oh, and I should mention that what interests me about the series is primarily the huge cast of Super Robot names that are in it, so I'm not especially interested in the Original Generation games.
