Has anyone played with the vg pocket caplet?

The retail price is $20, but I got it at costco for 15.

The screen is legitmatelyimpressive (with A/V out!) and the games are solid...decent little ports of burgertime, bust-a-move, space invaders, and some others, including versions of zuma, and buster bros, and some other ones. Grapically it's roughly SNES/Genesis, though feeling a bit sharewarey in places... sometimes there's a nice vintage Capcom feel to the graphics.

I guess this review says about as much as I'm going to.
EDIT: though at least I recognize a sokoban port when I see it...

Hey, that looks pretty swell. I wish I knew about this thing earlier, would have grabbed a few for christmas presents. I wonder if I can get it for a similar price off the internet.

If by "similar" you mean "no more than $20" then probably yes.... that's the price printed on the box (oh wait maybe that was costco's own secondary box?) - but there was a $5 "instant at register rebate"

An odd note is, the packaging (and/or sign at costco) made clear batteries not included, but didn't say what batteries it needed! I was a little worried 'til I opened the thing, and then a bit more worried when the battery cover needed a phillips screwdriver, but it's just 3 AAAs.

yeah, i've seen this around a few times (i think there are a few variants or models from the same manufacturer?) and am always tempted to pick one up. $20 is just on the far side of what i'd be willing to pay, though.

while we're on the topic, i'm still hoping i'll happen upon a playpal/coleco sonic someday. it's adorable! and it's got snail maze on it! motherfuckin' snail maze!

i wonder if anyone's hacked these guys to read from external media or do interesting stuff.

Yeah, though it seems like a pretty closed system.

Wonder what the processor is.
