So I was toying with something like this for my signature:

but then I realized it might be a little too obnoxious and LOOK AT ME!!! for regular use.

Still pretty proud of that though:
play an atari game in PCAEWin that records AVI movies, import the movies into Animation Shop, use (ancient) Paint Shop Pro to isolate the characters frames, copy those pieces into a new Animation Shop Animated GIF.... then I (dumb manual process, I need to get some automation going) broke the animted GIFs back into individual frames, then I wrote a Java Processing program to make an animation with everything together, then I generated a series of screen shots of that animation, and imported those into Animation Shop.

God, no wonder it killed a whole afternoon/evening. And it would have taken longer if I didn't have Processing to fiddle with assembling the actual animation.

It rocks, I love the colours! Well worth the effort, I'd say!

Finding a use for it might be tricky. Maybe we could engineer a special quoting tag function so that animation borders whatever it is you quote. It would be a rarely-used 'quoted for awesomeness' tag.

Err, well, thanks, I'm not sure though-- it seems a bit more SB'ish if you know what I mean.

One idea is, if I can find many more of these guys, maybe lower my standards from "walkers in platform-ish games", I might have enough to make a kick-ass banner (animated or non)

I'll have to check... Custer might be of a much larger scale than most of the fellas.

And yeah, these are the villains from the exact same games I chose from the ROMs I had on hand.

One thing I learned in this, even though I had to cheat w/ Keystone Kop and Krook... black really is the predominant background color of that system.

yeah you should definitely be using these as a signature
you should have the good guys go one way and the bad guys go the other way and then stack like five or six of them on top of eachother

not obnoxious at all, i think

not necessarily. it's small, so it's good. an SB sig would be like, half the screen.

oh good lord

Actually I'm trying to figure out far to run with this;
it's like knitting, a little work intensive but productive.

Is like, 10 and 10 elegant and perfect, or is it the more the merrier?

Though to really run with with this, I'd have to start including characters that don't fit the same 16x20 or so, looks like a platformer paradigm.

Of course my real fiendish idea is some kind of RTS or other Darwinia parody using these. But doing that right would be a huuuge sprite ripping job, not to mention needing verve and inspiration to make it something like a game rather than a mess.
