The pilot of the Enola Gay died yesterday.

I'm curious as to whether he showed any signs of objection to what he was asked to do, whether he considered it a difficult choice or not.

I thought he was on record as saying that he was following orders, and he'd do it again if in a similar situation - after all, it was a tactical strike and caused the end of the war. Of course, a 'similar situation' doesn't exist anymore.

I think pilots might be like astronauts- selected for their lack of imagination.

Is he the guy who's interview was featured in Atomic Cafe?

There was some mention of guilt, but the interviewee seemed to indicate that it was on the part of the US government in retrospect. (see clip)

Have to check over at Pamedia and see if there is info there.

edit:
It's in the last 40 seconds or so.

Turns out he was buried in an unmarked grave, like some kind of war criminal.

Also, ashes scattered in the English Channel.
