Trailer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRycPVBByaE
A curiously un-stylized Mysterious Dungeon type-deal, from Compile Hearts and a development team with the unfortunately romanized name "Plophet." What caught my eye is that from what I made out from the trailer, the "rogue" the title is referring to is Rogue rogue. Interesting! _________________

yes! the project is apparently being overseen by the person who originally programmed the japanese pc version of rogue, and is an homage to the original game. how similiar it is to rogue and how to fushigi no dungeon we'll see, but i am curious. _________________

I'm curious as well, but I have no desire at all to play this in its native japanese. Hopefully with the PS2 being "dead" the sensors will let this slip through on a budget. It's out now... any impressions on the great wide interwebs yet? _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

I played for about 20 minutes, but what with the moon language I'm really not getting very much out of it. I think I was playing some sort of quest or story mode, which consisted of five levels down, the retrieval of an item, then five different levels back up, bookended by brief dialogue scenes I can't read. Dunno if there's a more traditional option I haven't stumbled into yet. It was a bit dull, really. The enemy types I encountered thus far were pretty bland compared to Shiren. Maybe they get more interesting? _________________

boo. i'm sick of console roguelikes which refuse to get interesting until you've spent thirty hours with the game for fear of scaring away final fantasy players. _________________

I don't even think it's that! I think it's plainness is sort of a tribute, just a really, really misguided one.
Although hey! Again, only 20 minutes of play and I can't read any of the japanese apart from a few menu options and the potion colors. I don't want to write it off quite yet, I'm just sorta occupied with the end of the semester right now. Where's Camus Sirius when you need him? There's a dearth of information on this game in english, probably because it's low on anime character breasts. _________________
