School has been canceled today due to this big ass winter storm system moving through the state right now. We should be getting anywhere between six to twelve inches of snow starting within the next hour and lasting all morning. After that the storm system is leaving Oklahoma and heading on up into Kansas/Missouri territory where I know a few fellow TGQers to be living.

So what's up guys? Do you get the day off too? I think I'm going to build a snowman at some point today.

No days off here, but the temp outside is currently 27.

I live around Las Vegas. As in "120 degree summer" Las Vegas.

93 degree temperature fluctuation.

I'm in southern ontario, a few hours outside of toronto and its incredibly warm. Its raining even. In the area I am in usually, the winters are known to be very harsh but its late november and there has been practically no snow.

Posting to confirm that Southern Ontario is indeed merely wet instead of snowing hardcore. Aside from that freak snowstorm in EARLY NOVEMBER, the flakes just disappear the moment they hit the ground.

Disappointment all around.

There's a cold front coming later to the small, south-of Houston tri-city area I live in.

Texas can never decide what season it wants to be.

I'm at work today, but apparently that snow's supposed to arrive here soon. I'm hoping I get to go home early, but I'm not crossing my fingers or anything...

It's been unseasonably warm these past week in NYC, and to be honest, I'm pretty sick of it!

Sorry dhex, but bring on the cold, bring on the snow damnit! I want it to feel like Xmas.

Seattle has been fucking ridiculous. We got maaaaybe 4 inches of snow on Sunday night and school was cancelled for three days. It's still cancelled some places! People were just abandoning their cars in the middle of the street because the roads were a little icy. The news every morning this week has been literally only about how snow exists and you should not leave your home until it goes away.

It amazes me how little it takes to shut this city down.

Well, you gotta remember it's all hills and has those slanted roads for better run-off, so when they get icy it's basically game over.

I guess it's not like they have a lot of plows or sand trucks, either.

I used to live in Washington and have fond memories of people freaking out whenever a lot of rain would pour into town, which of course is ridiculous since, you know, its Washington State. Forget about the snow...

Wes, it snowed here a bit in Kansas City, so I would think you'd be getting some (you ARE in St. Louis, right?) It wasn't much, maybe two inches. But the roads froze up, so no class for me today!

My best friend in college lives in Nashville, I know he's riding somewhere around your area. I'm not familiar with Tennesee, but I know he's travelled up to WestVirginia and Virginia (where we attended school) from time to time.

It's holding around the high 40s/low 50s here. Last night it got down to the mid 30s, which is pretty damn cold for here (Yay Area), especially considering that none of the houses are build to retain heat.

Man, see, my town is like the exact opposite. The local schools didn't close until around noonish after there was already over a foot of snow on the ground. Everything else from the local businesses to government buildings to the commuinity college I go to all announced they were closed for the day before 6:00 am but the local school districts here would not close until they could literally see that there was so much snow it might pose a problem to people. It's fucking daffy if you ask me.

Also, it's 7:00 pm now and it's still snowing! There's a drift over two feet high on my driveway blocking my car in. I'll have to shovel it or something if I want to go somewhere, but I have a feeling if this keeps up my school will be closed tomorrow and I won't have to worry about it.

On snow days in New Orleans (they do happen once every ten years!!) nobody does anything, that I know of.

Nobody!

One of my fond memories of the local news there is the stock footage of cars sliding downhill in Seattle and running into each other very slowly.

But yeah, I was a little bugged when my parents called me from the San Juans to tell me about the 10 inches they were getting, when we haven't had a single flake yet in New York.

That sounds painful in the best possible way, and gives me an idea as to what I'm going to do tonight.

Also, that cold front I mentioned came in. It's very nice, but we don't get snow because it's south TX.

We got snow on Christmas Eve two years ago (might've even been last year, I don't quite remember). It was really cool, as I got to make a snowman for the first time in my life. Also, I spent an absurd amount of time just sitting in the snow, as I had never seen it before outside of pictures.

Up here in Bellingham, we got a whopping 14" of snow over Thanksgiving weekend. School was closed for 2 days and delayed the day after!

I just can't believe this.

It's just not possible.

Every time the weather gets cold the next day I go out in a scarf, gloves, 2 shirts, and a jacke, walk about a block, realize I'm sweating like crazy, take off the jacket, and say, "Oh fuck! It's not cold out here! Fuck!!"

Perhaps they mean it will snow 2 feet of snow from 2am until 4am, and then giant rays of heat will burst from the sky, turning the snow into steam, and creating an all natural sauna?

I would buy something like that.
