Try it!

Click on the "?" players to assign yourself to them before choosing "one match," "best of three," etc.

Then:

Play against yourself!

It's hard.

Actually, I found myself using the same stroke again and again, always hitting the ball to the back right corner, where my alternate self was standing ready to do the same.

I still need a second controller. That sounds like a lot of fun actually.

I have not been that psyched about the Wii yet, but this thread makes me want one very badly.

Yes I'm totally serious.

I've preordered a Wii, will I still have to wait in line come the UK release date? Or will they reserve it for me?

Yes, that would be interesting... you could play a left handed character and a right handed character.

But just to clarify, what I originally meant is you can assign the same Mii to every player on the court, so that when you swing your arm, every player swings simultaneously. So you can actually play against yourself with one controller. It's pretty confusing to keep shifting your attention back and forth.

I was wondering how that worked. It's kind of annoying when you're playing doubles by yourself and you keep wondering why your partner doesn't volley the ball back.

Wait, is that the right term? I haven't played tennis in a decade. :/

Yes, if your partner hits it before it bounces on your side of the court. I want to play some tennis! The real kind and the Wii kind! And I need to convince my cousin to design a Roger Federer Mii.

None!

In fact, my top 3 Wii sports games don't give you points for playing them vs. whereas my bottom 2 do. I hate Nintendo.

Tennis, Baseball, and Boxing give no points for versus mode. Golf and Bowling do. I think it's the difference between multiplayer active (first three) and multiplayer wait (second two).

It makes sense because in the three you don't get points for in multiplayer, you're playing against another player, whereas in bowling and golf you are playing against the course. An argument could be made that it should give points based on the difference between your scores, which wouldn't be a bad idea as long as there was a net gain of 0 points. I see why they chose not to go that way though.

I mostly play Tennis single player anyways because my friends aren't good enough, but the computer is since they're putting me up against 1000+ opponents now.

edit: The pro Miis can jump really far before they get tired, and one time I hit a ball out of the court early in the game and the Mii jumped to get it and landed on top of the people in the crowd.

I do believe in the long run, you get NEGATIVE points for this.

...

Anyway yeah, I found out about this recently. It's hilarious and awesome.
