Amazon.com is selling the Donkey Kong Jungle Beat game with the bongos for $19.99. Seems like a pretty good deal to me. Has anyone played this? If you deem it worth my money, just say the word and it will be bought.

Is that the music game or the other one?

It's the platformer. The screens make it look pretty fun visually.

It's a good game, but I think I got more enjoyment out of the original music game version. There's a feeling of imprecision in Jungle Beat that doesn't completely ruin its fun, but keeps it from being something you're compelled to go back and rack up high scores in.

I actually liked DK: King of Swing (or whatever the GBA L and R button game is) a bit better than Jungle Beat for some reason.

Don't know about Jungle Beat, but I reckon I will crack out Donkey Konga at Christmas.

i've heard many many good things about jungle beat, though i havn't played it. 19.99 seems like a good price with the bongos.

I say yes because it's something you've never experienced before. It's like the return of the Track and Field mat you got on your seventh birthday, and how cool it was to transfer your own movement onto the screen, and the joy of that physical exertion being your win condition, as contrasted by all other twiddle-thumbs gaming. Except here it's a good game too.

This may sound less exciting now that the Wii is known and looming, but remember, this is not a remote and nunchuk; these are bongos and with them you will run so fast and it will be awesome.

I actually picked up a copy of Jungle Beat the other day and was contemplating starting a topic about it. It's fucking fantastic.

The element that totally makes it: After stunning large enemies by clapping, you jump on top of them and proceed to beat the hell out of them by physically pummelling the hell out of the drums. That feeling alone is worth the $20.

As a platformer, it's candy. It's all about keeping yourself in the air and racking up banana-grabbing combos.

The boss fights are pretty good, too. The first boss is basically Punch-Out, but with bongos. Actually, come to think of it, is there a NES emulator for Gamecube? Because if there is I am chipping my Cube and adding bongo support to it tonight so that I can play Punch-Out with bongos for real.

Jungle Beat is fun. There's a surprising emphasis on score attack performance maximumization and combos and suchlike. If you liked Viewtiful Joe you'll be at home here.

Athough I loved it when I first got it, ultimately it didn't blow my dick off. I thought it was weird that they'd made such an unabashedly hardcore gamer's game, when the whole point of the bongos was to open games up to more casual players. Get it if you want, but it's not really a game so good it demands its own bulky peripheral taking up space in your house (Donkey Konga same deal).

I like Taiko No Tatsujin 'tho.

It never struck me that the bongos were a bulky peripheral taking up space in your home. An arcade sized IIDX or Pop'n Music controller, or a metal DDR pad maybe, but not the bongos.

My upper limit on how much space game shit should take up in my house is obviously a lot smaller than yours.

I will buy this game/controller combo, but will never own an Xbox due to space concerns.

Well, clearly you don't like games that require the purchase of big preipherals enough to bother. Simple enough.

BUY JUNGLE BEAT NOW. DROP WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING AND BUY IT RIGHT NOW.

It's such an entertaining game, and it's great for parties. A friend of mine from Czech who used to play nothing but FPS titles got really addicted to it and played about halfway through it in one sitting while he was visiting once.
