I've been trying to connect to the Nintendo WFC for the last 7 minutes non-stop!

Could my little Animal Crossing character be lost on the eternal seas of the interweb?

persona and i appear to be stuck in limbo. whenever it says it's "connecting to nintendo wfc" it just hangs.

my connector's reading my ds just fine, so i assume the problem is the connection to the internet.

though, you'll notice, i'm connected to the internet just fine right now.

We are still trapped in the system, it seems.
Alas, we are forever stranded in our little islands of Animals.

Did you know:
Turning off your DS while connecting to the Nintendo WFC network will not cause Mr. Resetti to come out? Abuse it and feel the absence of Resetti-ism!

an unrelated curiosity - is there a way to get screenshots out of a ds? outside of taking a picture of the screen.

There is an emulator, but it is really buggy (I hear, it could be better by now). Other than that there is just official press release stuff. On a side note, I frequently see DS' connected to some kind of TV out because they will be displayed on demo TVs at keiosks in stores, so there has to be something.

That said, I have taken a really good picture of my chicken (Egbert) saying the catch phrase I taught her "I <3 Cock" but replace that with an actual heart. It's a pretty good pun I think.

I do wonder why she never said that to me, though. Mysterious!

I've found "in bed" is a pretty good catchphrase. "How are you doing, in bed? I need some help, in bed."

The emulators are still pretty bad; even the leaked official one. They don't even really play homebrew.

Also, there's this?

Mocston of Noobtown: 1375-0052-3630

I had some trouble connecting for a while - Copper would reach the "Connecting to Nintendo WFC" stage and then hang - but you can fix it by getting on the phone in your bedroom and turning off all the download options and then connecting. You can turn downloads back on again after and it still works. I guess it's to do with trying to download something, but I haven't heard of any of the downloads they're meant to be doing (bulletin board messages an stuff like that).

I've added all of yous, so you all have to add me

We should totally throw an Animal Crossing New Years party.
Like someone could decorate their town, keep it plugged in next to a web connection all day, and we could all stop by and visit, leaving gifts and doing random things!

It'd be fun!

Is this still happening?

Well, I'm online, and I'm going to be up all day, so I'm just going to plug my DS in now. I just started a few days ago, so it's not incredibly fancy, but Tortimer is indeed handing out party poppers in the town square.

I'll be in and out of my house (my real house) all day, but my avatar will be sitting in his house while I'm gone.

Firstly: happy new year.

Secondly: I'll leave Noobtown's gates open tomorrow, in case anyone wants to visit. We have a bustling commercial district and all the cherries you can carry!

I've already got cherries, apples, oranges, peaches and coconuts (most of it is still growing, but it's there). But you can make a lot of money by exporting your home fruit to other towns!

I won't be around all of tomorrow, but I've got about 26 people on my friends list and they're all invited, so hopefully there might be some kind of mingling going on. Perhaps. And if it does, that'd be lovely!

blanca shows up in my town with the most disquieting faces i've ever seen. i gave her three eyes and sent her on her way.

i might have my gates open tonight, if anyone wants to visit and see the giant mosaics i've been working on.

so my mother has her own copy of this now. there was a cow skull on sale at her tailor's, and i demanded she buy it for me. now i am wearing it on my head. my mother insists this is in conflict with my veganism.

Tell her that it is very much in sync with it. You are showing people just what remains after their plates are cleaned. It is also cool.

I picked up AC:WW for the first time in almost two weeks last night. There were cockroaches in my apartment. When you step on them (after chasing them around the house) little spirits float away (much like Pikmin!). I have now killed something in this game, I feel empty, I wanted pure non-violence.

I kid, it was kind of fun.

dumb question: so does the game mark your absence by putting in household pests, or is that merely a random event? in other words, does it chastise you for ignoring it?
