Actually there are no dogs in achewood. The cats walk that way though.

They make reference to dogs sometimes but as far as I know they aren't intelligent like the other animals.

That comic is so great.

It's interesting how dirty, unpleasant, and kind of menacing this thing is. Did that car that melted through the foam need to have knives tied to it? And it seemed as if the sequence started out in a school lab or at least a clean garage or something, but by the end there was just filth everywhere. At least, that's the impression I got--I didn't go back to watch more closely.

I like the parts where something keeps almost happening before it actually does.

I have seen this video before in cold-medicine induced nightmares. Except in the dream each device triggers a whole group of other devices and I usually wake up when it starts getting really chaotic (except it's all terrifyingly ordered!).

Man I wish I was kidding!

I will then!

(Although there isn't any on this video, unless you're looking much harder than I was.)

And really, what are insinuating? That seeing somebody's block and tackle is indicative of something more signficant?

ADDENDUM: And yes, Toups, viewing of that video necessarily includes remembering that Prince is the world's forgotten great guitar player.

I'm just having a bit of fun, cheeky chops :D

That was great. Based on his Brit Awards performance I was expecting Let's Go Crazy, some lame song off his new album, some lame cover (maybe 'Maria Maria' by Carlos Santana), then some other lame song off his new album, then Purple Rain and close. But holy shit! He really pulled it out of the bag!

Well, it's a bit flooring if you've had any previous experience with Super Bowl halftime shows.

As a benchmark, probably the previously least revolting one was U2. I mean, this is the platform that brought us Up With People.

Yeah if I had known far enough ahead of time it would've been worth going to the superbowl just for that.

I need to read more of his stuff. I greatly enjoyed Black Jack and Buddha. Metropolis was an awesome animated feature as well.

One of my favorite shots in the anime Metropolis is the one of all the little cars clonking into each other when the big EMP weapon is tested. I love the super-flat perspective, where nothing recedes into the distance and everything is uniform and formalist. It demonstrates such a great understanding of what Tezuka was about, it's almost silly.

If you check Fritz Lang's other movies like 'M' you can see where Tezuka got a lot of his style from, in terms of composition and how stories are told. Tezuka's really influenced by that whole german formalism thing, and much of japanese design is influenced by Tezuka. We hear a lot about the American occupation being the seed of modern Japanese culture, but Germany has a lot do with it, too.

Shame the anime of Metropolis had to have all those ugly CG backgrounds for 50% of the film, because the scenes with painted backgrounds look gorgeous. It's nearly a great film!

At first (the first video), I was like... this is just silly.

Then the second video blew me away. I was pretty stunned by that panel. Not just what they were saying about athiests, but what little they knew about the country/world in general.

Most of the original ADV voice actors have worked in at least one hentai dub each if not more!
