"Xbox 360 is home to the most critically acclaimed next generation games according to Metacritic.com, the leading aggregator of game reviews from more than 100 publications," said Microsoft in a statement.
"The most-respected game reviewers have spoken and according to them, Xbox 360 has more than double the games of the Playstation 3 and Wii receiving a score of 90 or higher."
Who knew Metacritic was so reknowned and beloved?

I know you're anti-MS and all, but the 360 has much more bang for your buck if you're just a "regular" gamer. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

SilentMatt, let me rephrase that quote, for accuracy's sake:

I realize that... Note, the above post wasn't out of loathing for the 360, it was out of loathing for Microsoft resorting to pointing to Metacritic for justification.
I really hate Metacritic. _________________ PSN: Twitch_City ||| Wii: 8083 5371 5767 6700

It's not thought. See, there are websites that know if they get linked there as the top 5-10 reviews for a game they'll get more hits. So they will rate games higher just to get the top (or close to top) score which will get more traffic for their site. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

That's really common though. All companies point to aggregate sites to show how good their system or game is. Most websites just remove those statements in their news posts since they're pointless; then again, some leave them in because they are pointless. Sony used GameRankings when talking about God of War while Bethesda used GameRankings and MetaCritic for Oblivion announcements. About the only thing I know about the aggregate sites is that GameRankings has always listed us, MetaCritic refuses to, RottenTomatoes seems to do it randomly, and GameStats works 10% of the time. _________________ Come to me, Mordel. Everyday Shooter hits PSN this Thursday (and cheaper than Sin & Punishment)!
"Think of it as a rock version of Geometry Wars. It's an abstract shooter that pits your piddly little dot against tons of other ships and other nasties in a musical game of war. It'll be out this coming Thursday on the PlayStation Network for US$ 10, and it certainly looks to be worth each penny."

You know, it's kind of messed up that The Path is in there. I've been following the Tale of Tales site and know that they've only submitted what is in effect a demo (only a level or two). I know that the game is about the narrative and immersion, so how can you judge a game based on what it's trying to accomplish when you don't see how it ultimately does so. I don't really agree with allowing it into the IGF. Tale of Tales is not only cheating themselves, they're asking judges to make a grade/scale based on things that that will/may not reflect the final product. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

I have a question: does anybody remember what the name was of the project that was going to convert all of the province of Morrowind into a mod (as opposed to just the island that's used in the actual game) or have a link to it?
Thanks. |

Last I looked it up they had halted progress for about 8 months, and that was probably 2 years ago. I know what you're talking about, but don't remember the name of the project. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

Yeah, I think it died when Oblivion came out and somebody started a similarly massive mod project that will probably never come off either. |

Jonathan Mak demonstrates that he is just a little bit crazy on Sony's official blog, in promotion of tonight's release of Everyday Shooter. _________________ PSN: Twitch_City ||| Wii: 8083 5371 5767 6700

When is that coming out?

I lied!
It is out now! Came to $11.60 or something Canadian. Only 38 MB!
Downloading as I type this....
edit: Alongside a Ratchet and Clank demo (1609 MB in size, holy crap), a Conan demo, some NHL demo, and a Fallout 3 teaser trailer! _________________ PSN: Twitch_City ||| Wii: 8083 5371 5767 6700

What the hell Sony? Your downloadable games are huge (not EDS, but like most are) and your demo are freaking ginormous.
I'm still downloading the heavenly sword demo (which really just says more about how little I have my PS3 on).
Anyways, I will be getting this very, very soon. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

Haha, remember, you have a pending PSN friend request to accept whenever you end up pressing that power button!
Don't worry about being too quick to get to the store, their servers are being crushed at the moment. I started downloading EDS as soon as I posted and I'm just over 20% finished (of a 38 MB file...). Pathetically slow. _________________ PSN: Twitch_City ||| Wii: 8083 5371 5767 6700

I just hope there aren't any system updates, and I'm pretty sure there are... That's going to add like 30 minutes to the download. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

there's a huge number of new super mario galaxy videos up. this might be the most 3d platformer ever (even if some stages appear to be fully 2d). i suppose there's so much in the game that there's a danger it will be unfocused, though i think if they keep everything simple enough the transitions will all feel natural enough. _________________

I know, it looks almost too good. The last couple of things I've looked forward to this much have ended up disappointing me, so I feel like I'm jinxing it through my sheer anticipation. |

I still don't know what the hell I'm looking at when I see that game. I can't imagine making sense of running around the way Mario is running around. _________________

I kind of hope they use the Lost Planet engine for this. I mean, there are awesome Bionic Commando elements in the game, including a zipline. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

Yeah, I watched the trailer last night and it seems like Double Fine's version of Metalocalypse. Which is a good thing mind you. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

They're definately an example of the Japanese 'more is more' theory of design. When people get desensitized and used to something, add even bigger hairstyles! Maybe next season Goku will become a Super Super SUPER Saiyan! |
