What the hell? Pushing Zelda back to beyond Christmas is more than foolish, it's Gamecube retail suicide. That is of course, unless they plan on moving it to Revolution, which would really be the only possible move to make at this point. The Gamecube is officially dead now. No more important games will be coming out all year.
If Nintendo is actually still considering releasing Zelda on the Cube, they should try to make the system's lifespan a little more valuable by bringing over Japan-only games like Nintendo Puzzle Collection and Kururin Squash.
Oh yeah, Geist comes out today. *snicker*
But on to the discussion. It's certainly not a move that EA would have made. They would have just thrown money at the game until it made the Christmas deadline. This is more than just the delay of an important game. This is the delay of the most important game of 2005 to well beyond the lifespan of a near-dead system. So yeah, assuming Nintendo still releases the game on Gamecube and not the revolution, do you feel that Nintendo made the right decision by delaying Zelda?

Actually, I think it sounds interesting too, but the impressions I've read haven't been too kind. I might try it out after my girlfriend gives me my allowance.

The thing is, people can still play it on their Revolution.
Still, they should've made this a Revolution launch title to began with. It would've made a lot more sense. Aside from Zelda Nintendo has all but abandoned the Gamecube anyway; their focus seems to be solely on the DS for now, which seems smart enough.
If Zelda was a Revolution Launch title, that would pretty much guarantee strong initial sales of the system. _________________ where were you when nana komatsu got a wii? |

just sucker punch her when she's not looking and grab her purse.
that's the thing about women; they smell nice, but they can rarely take a punch. when you find one who does, you grab her and you hold on and you never, ever let go. _________________

I think a gamecube release is obviously smart no matter how delayed. Unlike the bad leftover taste of the N64 when the GC rolled in, fans will be left with fond memories of the system (bearing that it is a good game). If this makes it to the Revolution then, well... the largest vocal complaint about Animal Crossing, from fans of it, was that it looked like a leftover N64 game. I don't think N wants that again. |

I could stand to give Killer 7 a few more replays.
Paper Mario 2 is occupying me might fine for the time being, as well. _________________ where were you when nana komatsu got a wii? |

Hey man. A system doesn't have to get no more play to be near-dead. I mean, most of us still play all of our classic systems.
About Odama - can you imagine what a pain in the ass it's going to be to try to market that thing? How do you sell a feudal Japanese Pinball game/Real Time Strategy game/Voice Recognition experiment? This question makes me wonder if it will ever be released.

I was more talking about a from a general public opinion stand point. Not the few people who visit the forum. |

This question makes me wonder if it will ever be released. | You sell it as a Japanese Pinball/RTS with voice recognition experiment, probably for 29.99. Affix "from the maker of Sim Tower comes some manner of crazy japanese nonsense!" That should move a few copies. Think about how Katamari sold itself just based on word of mouth.
They'll release it. They've missed too many opportunities not to release it.
Hell, I can already see the print ads in my mind. Some samurai warrior running screaming into the fourth wall, giant metal sphere bearing down on him, and a caption making a play on words involving the phrase "ball-crushing."

But is it worth sacrificing 1,000,000 or so in sales and a guaranteed system seller on a brand new system that's been largely ignored by the media just to save the public's perception of the Gamecube's final days? Seems like a silly reason to release it on Gamecube to me.
Then again, maybe DDR with Mario, Mario Baseball, or Mario Soccer will be enough to carry the system...

That's just silly. People who don't have a cube when the rev comes out will be able to say "well it will play that Zelda game that just came out. That adds to the value of the system." Then it keeps current and next gen happy. Who knows, perhaps it will be playable on the GC but if you put it in your rev it has enhancements. I mean, look at Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga; it has rumble features when used with the GBA Player. |

"all but abandoned" implies that Nintendo has actually shown support for the GameCube at one point! What the fuck, Toups??
Mario Sunshine wasn't a launch title, Luigi's Fucking Ghost-vacuuming Mansion was. The only "original" game born on it is Pikmin, which is pretty much a kiddy version of Lemmings. And a kiddy Zelda that sucked worse the farther you got into it. AND METROID! Hahahahahahaahahahahahahaha. Yeah, Toups, you got me!
You were just kidding. My bad. Haha. _________________ Collector of over 1,538 strategy guides. That's weird, right?

delaying it?
Hmm, remember how people complained when they rushed WW and it was missing some dungeons?
Hmm... damn. Tough decision, but I agree it's market suicide. |
