i don't quite see the cognitive dissonance here. if you venn diagram the idea of "people" in this person's head, "pedophile" doesn't fit inside the circle.
now the bumper sticker, on the other hand, actually hurts to look at:
i feel like they're violating the NAP just by making it so flipping ugly. _________________

I had a sticker on my ford of Calvin kneeling before a cross asking the lord to forgive him for peeing on everything. When the car died I couldn't find the sticker again and gave up on those stickers in general. _________________ Signature:

i'm trying to imagine what i could drop 23 grand on, even across two years. much less across four cards.
seriously, fuck these people. i know they're 80% of the country, but fuck them anyway. did you really need 30 copies of baby einstein?
edit: i am put in mind of some of my wife's friends, who as late as last year were giving us lectures on how to handle (read: spend) money. i've been banging the credit apocalypse drum since early 2004, when i watched two people i know do tenaciously stupid things to buy houses. (i.e. cash in their 401k plans, get ARMs, etc) like an austrian, i've been right about 10 of the last 7 recessions, one could say...but on the other hand it doesn't take a psychic to know that if "x" is your yearly income and your yearly expenditures is x + 1, you're over budget. and if that little +1 is subject to interest penalties, well...we've just entered the land of synergy.
most of the people who were backhand insulting me for the last three years or so have gotten completely skullfucked. i'd be lying if i said that didn't fill me with tremendous happiness, the kind of glee only germans have bothered to name. good for them and their massive credit debt and insane living expenditures. i hope all those vacations and club nights and other stupid (in)discretionary spending was worth it.
i know it was for me. _________________

On the flipside my eight grand line of credit was recently cancelled for "lack of exercise" so I'm going to say the credit companies fucking deserve the sort of customers they are keeping. _________________ Signature:

I get calls occaisionally from the card companies- not for bills, but because they want to know "how we can make the card more useful".
I take that stuff as a warning.
I ask for a lower rate then buy a coffee with the card. _________________ I felt sheer anarchic joy when I ran over my first pedestrian. |

Guys like you are called "deadbeats"
Lose 1 single bill behind the dresser, and it's going from 7.99 (Not a temp deal thing, a real thing) to 19-20%
Fuck them.
They get a $5 purchase until they call again and are requested to return the rate to "normal".
I don't need them. I like rice. It's the beans that are a barrier. Not between me and credit. _________________ I felt sheer anarchic joy when I ran over my first pedestrian. |

yeah, the deadbeats thing popped up in the frontline history of the credit card. of course, it's mostly going on ben stein's word in that doc, but it's not too surprising.
personal credit is really, truly useful. it's just not useful enough to pay 20-30% for. _________________

mass effect? more like mass crash!
naw it hates all nvidia drivers past 175.19 apparently. also, weird console porty issues like the incredibly blotchy shadows. film grain is an interesting idea - probably takes less power than anti-aliasing with a similar effect. very 1940s bloomy light source effect, though. sort of neat, though actual anti-aliasing would have been neater.
voice acting is pretty good, though. way too much of it. _________________

Would have preferred "Crash Effect." Please be more snappy next time.
Funny you mention the voice acting. I had to stop playing this game because my wife couldn't stand all of the talking while she was trying to read. It's usually fairly easy for her to ignore what I'm playing, but with Mass Effect everyone sounds like they're telling you something important so she kept getting distracted. Pretty funny.

naw crash effect was too obvious. though everytime i see mass effect i think erect mass and that's not really right either.
yeah the voice acting is good in that it sounds like people are saying things that are meant to be said, but maybe that's just a hangover from fallout 3. sort of like beer goggles for your ears. ear goggles, even.
the combat is kind of annoying, mostly. it almost makes me miss kotor. there's really not much strategy going on, especially in close quarters. _________________

hmmm. |
A friend of mine in law enforcement has a certain phrase for dealing with pot - can't recall it now though. Unless it's a significant amount, he just has them stomp it out, grind out whatever's left, then tells them to go or gives them a ticket for something else. He's more worried about the crazy guys on PCP or the speeders he has to deal with - a state trooper - than someone smoking a joint after work. _________________ Come to me, Mordel. We shall depart. |

Ha, yeah, but what he runs into most of the time are people in their early 20s that have it on them but aren't partaking. The ones who do smoke tend to be older folk who tend to be speeding from just being shitty drivers - a whole lot of plant workers. I know a few guys who smoke pot like cigarettes, and it's gotten to the point to where they do it to avoid the depression from withdrawal than anything else. Of course, if someone's fucking around on the road and smoking pot, they are handled appropriately, but more often than not it's minor possession.
An awkward night was when one of the heavy smokers dropped by my place, but the two troopers were over. We all went to high school together and they all know each other, but the smoker refused to come inside; instead, he would just scream shit at my front door. After a while, they were wondering what was wrong with him, so I finally had to go to him and ask why he was being so weird. He was afraid they would arrest him. Like he's kept his smoking a super secret and they would finally see through it all when he came inside with bloodshot eyes and smelling like an asshole. The pillow he had in his backpack during school (never a book), the giant gallon of water he had in his car, nor the steady supply of snack cakes he always had on him would ever give it away. All they did was laugh at him, told him he smelled, and had him stay over for a while. Friendship: Pass it on. _________________ Come to me, Mordel. We shall depart. |

Beautiful segway. I've graduated three times now, and each time it's been during a downturn. I would like to enjoy them just a little. I'm not asking for much, just a month before it went to shit would've been nice. And to my great grandchildren: HAHAHAH, enjoy debt! I'm also spending all of my money, so screw your parents too. _________________ Come to me, Mordel. We shall depart. |

Yeah, the shooting was either the work of somebody who was incredibly stupid or crazy.
The riot was pretty stupid too though. |

What happens if it's your car that's burned or beaten to hell? I'm not sure how you could claim that on insurance. _________________ Come to me, Mordel. We shall depart. |

does a riot count as an act of god?
or would it just be vandalism?
vandalism is covered, no? (i've never insured a car.) _________________

It would be vandalism. It would be covered by comprehensive car insurance, not by collision (less the deductible, of course). No idea what the percentages are in terms of people having comprehensive and collision vs. just collision. |
