Feel free to add topics to this thread as you think of them, or discuss topics that are already underway. This might get confusing.
I'll start the ball rollling:
CHARACTERS IN GAMES YOU WANT TO HAVE IT OFF WITH
Fishing Lake girl in Twilight Princess.
For some reason I geniunely believed there was a way to get her to fall in love with Link if you caught enough fish.
Jill Valentine, Resident Evil remake.
HOTT.
Link in Ocarina of Time (blue tunic only)
[couldn't find a picture of this]
When I first played this game, he pretty much never took that blue tunic off. It matches his eyes. |

No way, Rebecca Chamber is a mong. I always thought Jill was hotter in that clip , too.
Tim Rogers says the only previous experience those actors had was in porno. |

Quote: | "Alrighty to God fuckin' hell!! Marvel's comics and stories may suck to high hell, but if they are good at any one thing, then that one thing would be giving me a fuckin' hard on!!" |
People wrote differently on the internet in those days, huh? I liked this, though:
Quote: |
Next up to bat....Pumayra. Pumayra was so fuckin' fly that...well...truthfully, I don't remember her at all. I just found her pic when I was doin' my search for Thundercat images. |
More internet comedians should have this level of naked honesty. I'm warming to this guy. His Peppermint Patty story is geniunely relatable, as well as correctly identifying that she's the hottest Peanuts character. I suppose what I like about this is that you can't quite tell if he's joking or not. Like there's not really any comedy in the following...
Quote: | Now, let me just say, I fuckin' hate that Daria cartoon. MTV has seriously got to get rid of that shit and pay for some new Sifl-n-Olly episodes. But that being said, I would be lying to myself, and you the reader if I were to say that I haven't ever left the show on just so I could sample a peak at these two pictures of perfection. I wait for the day when Britanny drops her books and needs to bend over to pick 'em up. Shit, I just wanna put it in her mouth. |
...except the comedy of the situation, and the ridiculous premise. I think this is pretty cleverly written. Although it's also crazy because there's no mention of the blonde one from Captain Caveman. |

I've changed my mind on this thread. Can we delete it?
For the record I don't spend my whole time thinking about having it off with cartoons. |

Speaking of commercials, there's a certain Olive Garden commercial where the host from Double Dare 2000 is sitting at the table ordering food. He's all, "Eh, I'll know what I want when I see it." As he's looking at the menu. Then the waiter goes by with the featured meal, and he says, "I think I just saw it, Hahahahaha!"
I've been trying to find that commercial everywhere so I can show my DD2000 obsessed buddy. |

Does the Saturn use a standard s-video cable? I've been trying to find pictures of a Saturn s-video cable online, but all I've seen are far off product shots for places like Play-Asia. _________________ Come to me, Mordel. We shall depart. |

Nope. The spot where the proprietary video/audio cable goes looks a lot like an S-Video input, but it's actually for a special Saturn-specific cable. There might be an S-video cable available, but that would be Saturn specific as well.

Fort90 I wanna see your list
I regret starting this thread, but I won't deny I used to get a boner when Bob Hoskins bonks his head off Jessica Rabbit's boobs. And I used to back Lara Croft up against a wall so I could see her chest heaving. And I had a picture of Posh Spice wearing a black top which every night I used to 'add to' using a black pen. Her tits got kinda ridiculous. |

It's true. I thought it was standard, but it's not. It's easy/cheap to get on Play-Asia (where I got mine). |

Is this the same cable the Genesis uses? That might save me a little bit of crazy voodoo with the Sega CD (seriously, you have to patch the mixing cable to the front of the console? That just seems so makeshift.) |

Whatever happened to PC game compilation packs? Looking at the dates of the included games, many weren't even a year old; and there are some really good titles in there (Jagged Alliance, Master of Orion II, etc.). I recall going to Office Depot on Sundays to buy bargain bin games that were still fairly new and popular. Good times. _________________ Come to me, Mordel. We shall depart. |

So, what badly translated Japanese RPG does the "X GET!" gamer slang meme come from, anyway? And what item or items were typically gotten? |

It was the Japanese version of Super Mario Sunshine! SHINE GET!! They should never have changed it for the western release.
Interestingly the German version congratulates you with 'BRAVISSIMO!!', but the Italian version just has whatever the Italian is for 'You Got A Shine', |

have you tried korokoro postnin? it's an intriguing variant on cameltry, wherein your character actually moves faster if you hug the walls. i've only tried it for a few minutes, but i thought you might dig it. warning: features hella annoying voice samples. |

Almost all of Space Quest 4 is spent traipsing to the ends of space and time in order to find a cigar butt and a book of matches, which you must smoke at the right time to proceed to the endgame.
Also Metal Gear NES come on parkbench.
Also all existing chapters of captaincabinets' Klik & Play "relationship-game-o-bliggity-blog". |

Not sure if you can smoke cigarettes in Morrowind. I'm inclined to think that you can't.
On the other hand, there's a crack-like drug that people smoke. Not sure if the player character does or whether you just eat it. |

In Gothic 2 you smoke out of what looks like a bong.
In The Dead Mountaineer you can smoke. You literally take about 30-40 seconds to stand there, tap your foot, and smoke. You can't do anything else during that time. It's like you work in fast food or at the mall. _________________ Come to me, Mordel. We shall depart. |

I spent my childhood playing Space Quest 3 over and over and my teenage years wishing I had a computer that could run, or a working copy of, Space Quest 4. Now I'm 24, I don't know if I should be relieved or disappointed to discover that Space Quest 4 is balls. |

I just hit upon something. The thing about videogames is, the type of logical mind you need to be able to program videogames is the opposite to the type of mind needed to be creative.
Programmers have too much power. Ideally programmers should be relegated to the level of electritians on a film set. i.e., do what the guy wearing the beret and holding the megaphone says, dork. No I don't want to hear your idea for a game which combines Quake, Metal Gear Solid and Spawn. |

true none the less.
programmers get paid SHIT TONS, too. more than any other discipline.
this is usualy justified with a "no programmer means no game" kind of rethoric.
there should a be great industry wide design strike.
just to see what kind of fucking garbage would come from that.
and then we come back, triumphant, in control, rich. _________________ you cant spell selfish without fish |

Harveyjames, what you say is mostly empirically true, but as a programmer who's not a creative retard, as well as an armchair videogame historian (I mean, Ron Gilbert was an assembly coder, dude), I have to take some exception to the idea that programmers are somehow inherently incapable of creative thinking by virtue of the fact that they're capable of creating and working within rigid logical structures.
But yeah, most programmers really are not very <strike>interesting people</strike> good game designers and should not pretend to be so.
(Honestly most programmers are not very good programmers, either.) |

Yeah, I realised it was a sweeping generalisation when I typed it, but it seems to have at least an ounce of truth in it. I think the worst thing about games is that they're so hard to make- it's not like punk where you can go 'here's one chord, here's another, here's a third, now form a band' and you get this grass-roots, deconstructivist cultural upheaval at street level, people get to express themselves, and the energy and freshness of the movement feeds back into mainstream culture and everyone is happy (I think I've had this train of thought on here before and made exactly the same analogy, and as I recall Dhex quickly pointed out that most punk was terrible, so I defined why movements like punk are so important a little better this time). |

james harvey, i have been saying this for ages. well, not that programmers aren't creative. just that they shouldn't monopolize the creation of videogames. _________________

Here's a true thing: When my dad finished university he had no idea what he wanted to do with his life, and some guys went round the universities giving people tests. The tests were designed to see how logically-minded and straight-foward people's brains were. My dad passed tested as being very straight-forward and logical indeed, and they offered him a job as a computer programmer. This was in the early 60's.
Also, he is not at all imaginative. ...except when he's speculating on what homosexuals get up to. Then he comes out with some wacky shit. |
