1. http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/
2. Select purchases, enter promo code "SUPERSALE" at the checkout screen.
3. Save additional 20%, which only happens twice a year.

I've done business a few times with DDD. They're not bad at all.
I don't actually get paid until Friday, but will decide on what to get before then. I might just do a big anime splurge. Or vintage childhood cartoons, like C.O.P.S..

Sale ends the 17th.

A couple months ago they had a 45% off Criterion Collection sale, at which I spent, well, a PS3-sized chunk of cash. They're where I get most of my DVDs.

Also of note: dvdpricesearch.com is a superb little engine, and Barnes & Noble is currently having a buy 2 get 1 free which is pretty excellent if you've also got their membership card.

Yes, I can vouch for DDD as well. Thanks for the heads up on the sale, I have been waiting for this to get my wife a bunch of anime.

Well, to be fair, it wasn't the entire Criterion catalog, but plenty of it to be sure. I stocked up on my Ingmar Bergman.

The sale doesn't extend to .ca, if anyone's wondering. Le Samourai will have to wait for another time, I guess.

Fantastic movie. I recently had the pleasure of seeing Melville's Army of Shadows at a theater downtown, which is just mindblowing. Probably the most amazing alternate-history treatment I've ever come across, in any form.

I ordered the complete The Singing Detective a week ago on Amazon.co.uk, and I'm still waiting for it.

This also requires a :(

Oh hey! Now it's 50% off the Kino Video catalog, highlights including all of Michael Haneke's works up until Time of the Wolf, a bunch of Wong Kar Wai, Fritz Lang, Krzysztof Kieslowski (check out the box sets for each of those three), Aleksandr Sokurov, Seijun Suzuki, and a ton classic foreign/silent/slapstick/horror/noir stuff.

Yow! Would recommend the Taisho Trilogy (that's Suzuki), the Dead or Alive box ($25!), Avant Garde, and Fritz Lang.

Oh yeah, the SUPERSALE is back, through Tuesday.

Unfortunately that'll just miss the June Criterion releases (sale isn't valid for preorders), but I was waiting for this to pick up last month's.

Fucking hell god damnit. They always have these awesome sales when I'm unemployed and/or too low on cash to go spending all sorts of money on stuff like this. I've been waiting for an opportunity to replace my lost/stolen WKW boxed set, too.

Why do these prices seem not all that great? Is it just certain things that are ultra-low?

Some of them aren't, some are.

So I'm not quite sure if actually ended yesterday or if it's going through today, but I thought Shaper might like to know the new Ozu Eclipse set is on there. Here's what I picked up (I decided to leave a bunch of Bunuel for next time; they've got these sales twice a year). These Criterions are all about 50% off retail.

DVD : LA HAINE (CRITERION) $ 20.70 In-stock
DVD : ARMY OF SHADOWS (CRITERION) $ 20.70 Avl 06/18
DVD : SANSHO THE BAILIFF (CRITERI $ 20.70 In-stock
DVD : VENGEANCE IS MINE (CRITERIO $ 16.30 In-stock
DVD : LATE OZU (CRITERION) $ 36.30 In-stock
DVD : SPRING IN A SMALL TOWN-CHIN $ 11.94 In-stock
DVD : OLD JOY $ 16.93 In-stock
DVD : SCORPION-BEAST STABLE $ 9.66 In-stock
