Hey everybody listen to me because I am telling you with authority what we're doing

I am going to set up a place where you can read all of the old threads from the Insert Credit forums. This will ONLY be the threads, topics and user names associated. This will not be a forum, you will not be able to contribute to the threads or post or anything. There will be no profiles or any personal information other than user name and post text. You will be able to search by text and such for old threads.

There will also be a new forum setup where you can post again. If you want to start threads based off old threads and link to them, that's fine but this will not be using any old forum data.

I am guessing that the forum data is stored as one big file of SQL statements. It will be given from Brandon or Vincent to Andrew Toups who will then give it to me. Andrew knows nothing about SQL so him reading hte file would be pointless. I will be the only person, other than Andrew Toups and the IC staff who will see this data.

I will then import this data into a new SQL database, and immediately delete all columns and/or tables that will not be needed to show threaded topics and post text with user name.

I swear on whatever you want me to swear on that I will not look at any individual records (not even my own) and will delete whatever is not needed to show the most basic post/thread data from the original forums.

None of this will be released to the public, including the read-only view, until it gets the "all clear" from Brandon or the IC staff such that it is proven there is nothing but posts and user names.

This is all assuming Brandon will agree with this, but personally I think if he has any care to see the original forum data not simply destroyed, this is the best way to handle it.

I have not read this thread so I have no idea what you have been squabbling about but I hope this clears things up. If you have questions, please direct them to Andrew Toups.

If the IC staff agrees to giving away the database with the private data cleaned (as you described), I'd like to go back to the original plan of just setting up the forum backups on a different server.

If the IC staff decides not to give away the database, then I would like them to put up the forums temporarily in a secret location so that one person can create an exact mirror of them before they're taken down permanently.

I have no idea what you guys are doing for the "new forum", although whatever Andrew tells me to implement I can. This post was mostly to end squabbling about what is happening to old data, should Brandon agree to this.

I know for the old data I am going to write a new set of view-only templates based on phpBB code that only allows reading of old threads.

Toups, HARDTYPE.COM is available for registration. I feel it is my best brainstorming yet. Onecoin has connections for some people but I feel that it does not embody videogames. HARDTYPE.com is about HARDNESS (something we are) TYPING (the purpose of the thing) and a type of videogames. Of course it's your dolla/

Too much work.

Go into the database and just remove every user from the old boards. Done correctly, it should leave names next to posts. Also, lock registration.

Also guys, what nana has said is what we are doing. Let's not waste our energy debating this until it fails and then you can all laugh at me and say "WE TOLD YOU SO" but until then I have confidence that she will be able to do this and it will be a good stopgap solution. It may not be the best but it will do for short notice and will help us get things moving again.

Just make sure you keep a copy of it because I think there's a better way to create an archive of that data than what seems to be the mob consensus.

Ging seemed to be acting pretty cool fairly recently, though, wasn't he? I mean, sometime around the time it was revealed that he was only 18 years-old he took a turn for the better. Did that keep up?

I am not that trigger happy but he will be on a very short rope. It takes a lot for me to get fed up and even I was fed up with ging's bullshit. If he registers he will be on a very short rope and if he even so much as mentions a nippon ichi game I will ban him so hard that his great great grandfather will rise from his grave and start looking for proxies.

(I was saving that one for the forum launch but whatever)

HardType is cool, but MonoHardType is even better!

Seriously though, Hard Type is a pretty good suggestion. It's a bit edgier than Insert Credit though, so it might be too edgy.

Yes, his posting of "How do I get drugs" and various "I am a rapist just waiting to happen" threads were a clear turn for the better.

I did not know Fire but enemied artist sounds like something Decinoge would say so I really like it. But I don't think a name that has to be explained to every new member is that great of an idea.

Hardtype is nice. Also: .info. Do it.

err... the abbreviation of enemied artist would be EA. You know EA ? EA.

So I would go for something like HardPotion.com
During the Incident(!), a lot of people were talking about getting drunk. Everyone was having a good time even if the place was burning down. Hard Potion... does it sound too "mainstream-game" to you ? The abbreviation would become HP.

I personally like hardtype, it's definetly a lot more vague than all the other suggestions, which is a good, but definetly still relevant (like when you think "final fantasy iv). And it's also "snappier".

Hey everyone. Anyone remember me?

Yeah you were the guy whose name I could never remember but you had that catchy avatar of a purple thing fried up like shrimp tempura, kind of.

Except I lied because I do remember your name.

I was going to put you in my list of people-who-weren't-here-yet to Rud13, but I couldn't remember if you were still an active poster!

The only thing I particularly witnessed was when everything was locked already. I was confused for a second, and then thought everything would take a day or something to straighten up. Though, at the time it didn't occur to me that it was icyclam(!!) and I luckly managed to not see any KP

Also
I much prefer reading everyone's posts than my own. I feel like my posts suck usually.

Which one are you? Do you have OutRun 2006?
I promise to play with you more once I have 360. Sad
