Let's talk about it here, instead of in the Issue #1 thread. _________________

See, I wanted to make it even bigger by spacing out all the paragraphs, but then there is that pesky problem of too much white space. What to do...
at least this thread does not have fukin in it.... |

white space is good for you. seriously.
i do think you should consider implementing a word cap, though. _________________

See, while I like the idea of negative space, you really could do something constructive (or at least decorative) with that real estate. Perhaps a sidebar, or blurb, or little Persona illustration, or something obscene. Not necessarily at the end; just measured by how much white space would be left without it. _________________

Well, if persona was on a better time schedule (he was mighty ill and had finals after E3) we probably could have had more time to tinker. But as it was I think it turned out decent for the amount of time we had. But I will take this into consideration; don't think I am blowing you off. More just making excuses for myself. |

On the interweb! Seriously... use Froogle or something. Worth the price of admission if your looking for a stiff challenge. |

Is this the thread for compliments and criticisms about the new issue in general and specific articles? I finished reading all of the mag I want to earlier and I would like to give some specific and helpful feedback, since most of the response for the first issue, as far as I saw, seemed to be either the mag is awesome or get out of my hobby without much more explanation.
So are we going to start seperate threads for each article (which I'd suspect the writers would greatly appreciate and at worst there'll only be a couple replies), have just one new thread for issue criticism, or should I just post my thoughts here?
I'll get around to writing some comments tonight or tommorow.
In the meantime, good work on this issue! I enjoyed it more and thought it was better constructed than the first. _________________ Brauner: Damn you, humans... You selfishly start wars and despoil the earth. Perhaps justice wasn't on my side but I will never admit that it was on yours. |

If you want to start a thread for a specific article, that's fine. Or if you want to just put all your feedback in this, that's fine too. Bascially, I guess, anything goes. |

Goodness, no! It's summer and the cheating girlfriend is gone. Life is good.
I'd love to contribute something, for sure. You guys are sure doing something special here. If I can be a part of and/or aid the cause, I'm all for it. |

Okay, so I meant to quickly write a few comments on the magazine, but it ended up being a fullblown 2000 word reaction. Given the length, I just posted it on my NEW LIVE JOURNAL since it would be easier to read there than in a forum.
I really think you guys should check it out, cause I'd guess you're not going to get a more thorough response by any other non-staff member. I started out talking about the issue in general, then I went through and wrote a paragraph on each article in the mag, briefly pointing out what I thought to be both good and bad.
If you want, you can comment on it in my comments section or here, I guess. Or both. I don't care. _________________ Brauner: Damn you, humans... You selfishly start wars and despoil the earth. Perhaps justice wasn't on my side but I will never admit that it was on yours. |

This is really good, yeah. You are, I think, totally right in saying that our biggest problem right now is general looseness, both in that many of the articles, especially the ones I wrote, are way too wordy, and in the overall structure of the magazine, which could be more focused, too.
You're also eerily perceptive about the "King of Fighters" piece. To be honest, I'm not too pleased with the way it turned out. Essentially, I had an early draft written, and then when submission time rolled around I, depressed and distracted, only edited the first half of the article and thus everything from Miyamoto onward is sketchy bullshit. It's probably easy to tell.
The hypocrisy/ridiculousness of the Ulysees reference was actually intentional, because my biggest failing as a writer is my tendency to always go for unfunny in-jokes that no one but me understands, even when it's not a good idea. _________________

On organization: you could maybe color-code the articles in the corner, so when flipping through you can skim right to the article you like.
For fun, one issue you could work all in shades of gray -- maybe the same issue where you get someone who's color-blind to write about his experiences with videogames. _________________

Wow nICO!
Thanks for such in-depth feedback. For me personally it makes writing things very rewarding to know that someone was moved enough to tell me precisely what they think. Thanks! As for the 1st/3rd person comment regarding SB, you are right and it was something that niggled me at times while writing.
As for the Gamer's World article being your favourite, wow, thats great!
I warn you though, I am prone to incredibly powerful bouts of absolute ego-mania that can induce strong feelings of euphoria. Woohoo!
I'm not sure if anyone realises, but it's part of a series of articles I've been writing for several publications. Of course what I wrote for TGQ is entirely exclusive to them with only fresh content. But yeah, I've really started to get into the idea of examining the global gaming scenes. I quite enjoyed the Italien arcade article from issue 1, and I hear on the grapevine that another TGQ writer is working on their own foreignb expose.
Thanks for the feedback chaps.
