I dunno man...

But I've also been digitally editing some video footage, wrote a few thousand lines of code, cleaned up some audio, wrote up a mini-document or two, and spent a lot of time staring at the wall swooning over some girl!

hi stotel ^-^

thanks for the NicePost, and don't worry, neither you nor any of the others ever actually offended me (and hey everything's better than a girl-gamers forum ok). on the contrary. hope the same goes for you. and yeah wherever it is IC or it's sequel ends up i'll be there.

Guys I am feeling very positive about posting on the internet right now (see: flav avatar). It feels like we lost a lot of bad vibes with the IC forums. I hope it continues like this.

I don't like the feeling of staying as someone's crazy refugee house guest for a long period of time. Several of the TGQ regulars seem to be confused by our antics, so I think it would be best not to overstay our welcome.

Of course one could post here and at the new forums. But since this place already has decent forums for game discussion, maybe we should consider a BBS style board for the axe replacement and a new general forums. The crew is pretty much already assembled here.

Oh, we'd need new development forums, too.

I'm just afraid the two crews won't blend well, over time.

I've tried integrating two communities into one, and it rarely works.

Hey, remember, I don't like other people named Matt.

I kid, I kid! Seriously, a huge brain fart on my part.

My forum already has a board named The Forum Axe II.

It even has a subtitle.

As far as NYE goes, Wilkes, I'll either make a post here or at the new forums about it in soon time, with guestlists and all that. Basically we (Smartblue, Thunder Force 6, and I) are having kind of an open-invite party at our house in Louisville on New Year's Eve. There will be all the fun trappings of a NYE party, except you get to hang out with awesome people like the Louisville IC posse, as well as a few others who I will talk about later.

I fear that as well. I'm not sure if it can be prevented.

For example, my thing, I've wanted to start something for quite some time, and I sort of see this as an opportunity to do so. If I take too long doing it right now, and everybody migrates to one or two temporary or especially permanent neo-IC boards, I will have a hard time selling the idea as universally and it may end up as a Lonely Game.

Things feel fresher, here. Probably the white/red color scheme.

stuff about aderack and tim[

Yeah, that's one of the things that disturbed me the most about this whole situation. Tim and aderack most certainly had mega influence in this planned destruction of the forums. They acted like complete and total children--these are people I respect, and it sort of saddens me to see this happen. I mean, did you know that minutes before the icy take over, aderack had Captain EO temp banned for not liking Peter Jackson? I mean, what the fuck? When I first joined the forums, tim, aderack and brandon were the top three posters, and I stuck around because I enjoyed conversing with them. Now all three of them want us all to die. Maybe I'm just more susceptible to growing attached to things, but I've seen no real Great Injustice over the last four years that would lead me to willfully sabotage a vibrant community. It all points to the three of them simply not being able to handle that they were not the focal point of the forums. That is fucking sad, and I wish at least one of them had seriously voiced these thoughts to me at some point in time.

That said, to all those that are a little bewildered or miffed that Brandon apparently doesn't like them: from what I know of the guy, he bears none of us any ill will. He is simply predisposed to becoming disillusioned with things that grow too big for their britches.

As for where we're going to go, lets just sit around and see what happens first. I know internisus was interested in trying to start something up, too. Something tells me we're going to end up splintered and diminished Sad

I have no reason to believe Aderack or Tim where behind this, but I feel the same way. Especially since aderack seemed not to give a shit in the LPN forums about all this, and Tim came in on this thread early on to defend Icy Clam and say everyone else was being stupid. Their behavior regarding this incedent kind of sucks. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Aderack and Tim can be a little egotistical and condesending sometimes.

Guys, I think we should take a vote on where to go next. I know people will just go where ever their loyalties lie, but it would help the Independents pick a forum.

I say someone start a poll on where to go next right here on TGQ and let it end sometime next week. Allow it to be editted for new entries right up till the end and voting extended if extending circumstances occur.

At a certain point recently, even knowing that the guy kinda dislikes (maybe hates?) me, I figured that when I go to Japan next year, I would drop him a line. You know, I hate on a bunch of people online, but in real life I'm far more agreeable, and even pretty forgiving.

Nope! Don't hate you! Can't hate someone I don't know! All I seem to remember is you saying some boneheaded things about videogames couple of times and my kind of groaning in my chair and typing up something I thought was funny in reply, which then made me feel kind of satisfied as I strutted to the tea machine.

You were kind of like Ayumi Hamasaki in a way. Everytime there's a new Ayumi Hamasaki song out and I hear it in the convenient store I go "Oh GOD who is THIS?" And I point out all kinds of objective musical factual errors and groan three or four times. And then my friend tells me, "That's the new Ayumi Hamasaki song." And I go, "Really?" I just can't remember her voice. It never sounds the same. Her songs have no signature. She sounds like any old pop idol. In a way, her music amuses me more than anyone else's, because I go download it after learning about it, and listen to it once or twice and feel like a smart person for being able to tolerate something I don't enjoy.

However, very recently, a "FortNinety post" gained an identity in my eyes, so it was kind of a refreshing level of interest. You'd have to have been there.

I also remember you hopping on bandwagons many times whenever someone tried to call me out on something. You almost always began your two cents with "While I've had a few disagreements with Tim in the past, he's really stepping out of line here!" It was so preciously amusing. So if you're ever in the city and it's not really you who hates me and is posing in the other direction, do feel free to drop me an email! Lots of rock and roll, and beer, and fursuits in this town!

See, here is the thing about icyclam. I was not part of the IC forums when the original icyclam thing happened. I lurked occasionally, but had never registered, and had no idea about any of it. The forums were down for a couple days, and when they came back, that was when I decided I might try being a part of them.

With all that in mind, even I knew how much people hated icyclam.

I can understand Brandon's intentions if he didn't like how the forums were going. That is cool, and whatever. But the execution of it all, man...the execution.

Was Kojima there with you as well? Were you onstage at a rock show? Was your porn star girlfriend in the audience?

But I kid.

Actually, I'll be in town late May for a big rock and roll concert... I think its called Magma, which is supposed to take place in some stadium or other huge venue, and I'm going to be there on stage in a huge inflatable suit that looks like an evil cereal box (as will everyone else on stage... the inflatable part I mean... we'll all be wearing small fans to maintain the suits' forms... and they'll be made from the same material as weather balloons, meaning they will be puncture free). But I hate to mention it since, I dunno, I don't want to be perceived as stealing your gimmick.

Back on topic, I think the best case scenario once again is for the IC forums to remain closed. I mean... what happens when it re-opens and the same people return and the same talk as well? What will Brandon do? Again, its absolutely in his right to do whatever, but it is a kind of important question to consider.

If Brandon was sick of the stigma of the forums overpowering the site that it spawned from, then what he should have done was cast it free.... like how the GAF broke free from Gaming Age to become something different. But hey, its all dried spilt milk right now.

Tim, I don't know why, but I always find it incredibly reassuring when you post large, expository posts. This is unusual because I often find the actual content of them quite worrying, especially in this thread.

But I guess most of the things discussed are moot points now, huh?

George from IC here. It took me a while to get on because when I tried registering "George" my spam filter deleted the activation e-mail. I'm thinking I'll permanently switch to Ebrey.

I'd like to say that I really want to move to a new IC forums, but only if everyone agrees to go to the same one. It really doesn't matter to me one bit whether Toups or internisus runs the new one because I'm sure they'd both do a great job.

Also, I agree with extralife that it would have been absolutely swell if brandon had given us a month to create a new forum for ourselves. This sudden forum destruction didn't give us time to organize, and appointing icy as a mod was much more offensive than if he had simply deleted the forums on a whim. I can see why someone might not find the IC forums to suit their tastes, but we did nothing to earn anyone's hatred and so we deserved a painless execution.

I leave for food and yardwork and sitting in parking lots listening to the radio, only to come back and find that 108 has posted something mostly earnest! Neato!

I'll give the benefit of the doubt and figure that this was the result of mass miscommunication. Brandon has this truly awesome anti-hero leadership charisma that makes people admire nearly anything he does, yet then he produces these perpetually shifting decisions and never fully articulated plans.

There's the part of me that wants to think that 108 endorsed this to fuck with us, and clambo volunteered for this because he's a sociopath who once said that he would some day be in charge of the forums, but then the other part wants to think that everybody was just ready for change and clambo really did think that he could do the right thing to make amends. The latter is what I rolled with. Benefit of the doubt, and all. It did surprise me to see how many people were willing to bail under his leadership, even within just a few hours.

In retrospect, I did that because I underestimated the emotional responses that other people would have, since at the time I didn't feel anything unusual. Not shellshocked, nor insulted. At first Rud13 was shellshocked and DJ was insulted -- by the end of the day, DJ and I (and a slightly drunk GCDiaz) were on Skype, watching the real-time developments, laughing at the sheer absurdity of everything. We were ready to move on, though, so it was easy sit back and watch the most spectacular slow-motion trainwreck in the history of insert credit.

I don't think there is anybody who deserves blame, really. I will blame miscommunication in and of itself; maybe the collection of our various character traits that we all can't help but adhere to despite our best intentions. The guys who couldn't help but write multiparagraph attempts at reasoning with icy did just that (even though icy openly said that large messages give him a headache); the guys who couldn't help but push the limits of tact did just that (even though icy openly said that he'd ban people if he had to); the guys who couldn't help but run to 4chan and summon the Knights of the Shortbus did just that (even though it was destined to result in this). Tim couldn't help but play the "you are all merely seamonkeys to me" card, and clambo couldn't help but show his true colors while going against his own mandates.

Brandon? He was out on the town, nowhere near the forum. Had to be text-messaged that the place was going thermonuclear. He can't help but be that guy, either.

Everybody will land on their feet, though. Even TDS will get where he needs to go. We've got good backups, lots of options, lots of channels of communication, and lots of people who give a damn about keeping this shit together.

If you guys haven't noticed, we have another forum.

Come on over! I promise not to persecute anyone! I had a feeling some people would be reluctant too because of previous beefs with me. Put that all aside! My moderation style is very business-like, and in business, one does not let personal conflicts get in the way of what is best.

Hell, I won't even bother extralife!

I have no beef with you whatsoever. I just think there should be one, and only one, neo IC.

It is okay if you want a hug, just say so.

Also, I just opened one of them big 1.75L bottles of Bacardi Superior.
