My dreams have come true:

Parodius Portable: Parodius, Gokujou Parodius, Sexy Parodius, Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius
Salamander Portable: Salamander, Lifeforce, Salamander 2, Xexex
Twinbee Portable: Twinbee (1985 ver.), Detana! Twin Bee, Twin Bee Yahoo!, Twin Bee (1996 ver.)

Each of the three comps include a 'bonus game'. Maybe Rainbow Bell Adventure on the Twinbee collection? What the heck could the other bonuses be?

All coming January 2007 for the PSP! Hooray!

God damn it! I really, REALLY want to not get this system.

But Konami and Capcom keep releasing these brilliant compilations/remakes that just make me salivate.

I hope Lumines on Live really takes off and more PSP games get offered as downloadables or something that I can play without a PSP system.

I bet the bonus on the Parodius disc is that rare Parodius turn-based-strategy game. Hopefully the one on the Twinbee disc is Twinbee RPG, because I've been dying to play that.

I might even get a PSP now because of this. All we need now is a port of Snatcher.

Sorry, but that Twinbee collection is sorta worthless without Pop'in.

I didn't even notice Pop'n wasn't on there. I was too high on the fact that the Parodius collection's going to have Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius, I guess.

Now, you see, I've only heard good things about Star Soldier, but no, I've not played it myself. But I do have Gradius Portable, and it's pretty good. I was happy to finally play Gaiden.

And yeah, after I posted I realized Pop'N Twinbee wasn't there. Maybe it's a typo-- I think it would be a mistake not to include it. Maybe it's the bonus?

OtakupunkX, the RPG is Paro Wars. Don't have it, but I've almost bought it in the past. My money is on Kid Dracula as the bonus.

Huh!

A few months ago I had the WORST time trying to find it. So it's recommended then? I could get it along with the $19.90 Garou Densetsu Battle Archive Vol. 1!

So here's a dumb question: How hard are these games? Can someone like me, who likes shooters but is not very good at them (ie: I still can't beat ikaruga without unlimited continues) enjoy these?

At this point I'll take anything for the PSP that I can play and will enjoy.

Well, most likely they are too hard if you want to like one credit them. Hell, of all the games on the list I can only one credit "beginner" mode of Twin Bee Yahhoo!!, and that's just the first 3 stages.

BUT! They will most likely have unlimited credits. Or time released credits like Iky does/did. If you were just going to get one of the three I would have to go with Parodius... because you can't really go wrong with Parody + Gradius. It's pretty goofy/silly in theme, but dead serious about play and difficulty.

Also, like, you could just test most of these games out in MAME.

I have to agree with Shaper. Get Parodius. The concept alone is worth it.

What do you think are the chances that these will come out in the US?

Sadly, I could see the Parodius compilation not coming out over here because Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius has a ridiculous amount of spoken dialouge important to the gameplay experience apparently. Don't quote me on that, though.

Yeah, I have this weird sense of responsibility and morality that won't let me do this.

Low? Reasoning: these compilations hardly come to the US. I think the Gradius one came out riding on the coat-tails of GV's mild popularity and the fact that Sony wants things out on the PSP. Also, due to the fairly quick price drop on the Gradius Collection PSP I am guessing it's not selling.

All in all I could be wrong, but you can just chalk that up to me no longer having any idea what the hell the release plans are for the PSP/sony.

Well-- good news, based on the screenshots in the link Shaper just posted, Pop'N is in the Twinbee collection after all!

Fort, you've gotta stop beginning sentences with "sorry" when you're not going to be sorry about something.

True. When do you think they'll start releasing PSP games at reasonable prices instead of just dropping them within a few months of release?

When the PSP is 3 years old... possibly 4.

Its a very hard habit to break. And I'm actually somewhat sorry about that.
