home screen printing? more trouble than it's probably worth. especially if it's less a home and more an apartment. well, I guess it's no less a home. still troublesome.

YEAH

I'll give you a print of that shirt sometime. And the orange one from above.

ok, i know it's more trouble than its worth.

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut.

i know someone with a spare room in his apartment. we're both like, stupid enough to want to make our own posters and shirts and shit. i'm only a pre-press guy, though, so i don't know diddly. this poor fucker has a goddamn cinema studies degree.

so, like, yeah! point us in the direction of depravity and frustration!

well, my natural inclination would be to tell you to let me live in the room and in exchange, I'll make you all the t-shirts you want.

though, that COA might not work so well for you.

HMM. I'll get some information together. I work with large, professional equipment that takes up a huge amount of space. I couldn't imagine doing this kind of stuff just anywhere.

stay tuned!!!

I've made screen-printing equipment by hand.

It's not that hard and could easily be done in an apartment. The issues are that you have to cut a stencil yourself with an Exacto knife and then you have to decide whether you can resign yourself to a very small run of prints (before the stencil gets destroyed) or permanently affix the stencil to the screen, meaning that you have to make another screen setup.

There's probably a better way to do it, I just learned the DIY method.

OK. SO.

I asked my boss for some advice on this and I could literally hear the slurp of his eyes rolling back in his head. He hates screening. He suggests a garment printer; I don't think he really understands the versatility of screen printing.

Really, what you need is a good idea of how you want what you're printing to look. Doing some research has made me interested in doing this on an amature level, though it still looks tough.

Here is a slight guide I got from wikipedia that you probably have already seen. Bully me if you haven't.

Good luck! Sorry I couldn't actually help.

well, if i had access to a garment printer, that would be a different story.

but, hey, seeing as they run 15 to 20 grand, etc etc and so forth.

i've got some time coming up in august so we'll see what we see then. thanks y'all.

A lot of those make me think of game art, like Advance Wars or something. They're really quite lovely.

I like these shirts. I think they're the best thing ever to come out of Something Awful.

Edit: The only sizes they have them in are XL, XXL, or XXXL Sad

Personally, I think it's because he had lovely hair.

I bought a neat shirt that says "Robot Power" but I can't find it on the Giant Robot site.

Others may be interested in this shirt although it's a little pricey:

Notice that each of the pixels is in fact a smaller invader.
