Holy Crap!. This is a DS version of Point Blank, Namco's wacky arcade target practice game. How has this slipped under my radar this far? This looks like the most perfect damn game for the DS.

If you didn't know most of the fun of Point Blank comes not from using an actual light gun, but the wackyness of the things you are doing with it. I think that this could be a really great game based on the touch screen capabilities and games like Feel The Magic and Rub Rabbits. I am going to try to pick this up soon.

i spotted this in play-asia's weekly update and decided it looked awesome. i also decided it looked expensive.

i am secretly hoping that it makes the weekly ten-dollar special.

Point Blank DS has been on my "I have to buy this" list since it was announced. I really need to work on buying the things on my "I have to buy this" list...

If it does end up making the $10 special one week I will buy it.

So it came out in the US a little while ago. It was released in exceptionally small numbers. I found the only copy in a 100 mile radius last night (it just happen to be 5 miles away).

I don't know what to say about it. It is exactly what you would expect from this game. Exactly. Which I guess is a little disapointing. It should have gone with a bit more "point" jokes or puns, but it still calls itself a "shooting game for the DS." Which is odd, because I never feel like I am shooting anything, just pointing. Sometimes pointing alot.

That said, I enjoy it much better than Wario Ware Touched. The game is still hard, and the accuracy feels off at high speeds, but watching myself closely it seems like I am just too slow.

Anyways, it seems like it might be worth hunting down if you are interested if for no other reason than it will go from hard to find to impossible in the not too distant future.

Also, I don't like the new Namco logo.

Yikes. The logo's so bad I just saw the Bandai and stopped looking. I didn't know it was Namco (I guess they merged?) until you just said so and I took another look. Some marketer somewhere would be proud, I guess.

It's difficult, which is kinda weird. I mean, my thought progression went something like
"It's just pointing"
"But it's hard!"
"Is there something wrong with me?"

This is the thing about the touch screen, I guess; it leaves very little room for excuses. You aren't moving a cursor with a pad, you aren't shooting a light gun from 3 feet, you're just touching dots on a screen. And in my case, kinda sucking at it.

I have seen it on several locales in my area. I didn't know whether or not to acquire it since I have no idea whether or not the light gun fun translated well to the touch pad arena.

Especially for the full retail price. Now for $20 I wouldn't give a damn. I've always liked the series and the two mascot characters. So is it mainly pointing an item and watch it go pop? Are there any varying themes in this title? I could use a new Wario Ware since playing Twisted on the go on a fat DS is impossible to place in your pocket comfortably.

it's disappointing that you can't play arcade mode in multiplayer. you can't even play all the stages.

I got to play on an actual Point Blank arcade machine at the California Extreme a few weeks ago. It's a shame the game isn't more common in arcades here (ala Time Crisis, Area 51) because it's really fun. I think the best part is how the slide on the light guns would move every time you'd fire it. Did the original Guncom for PS1 do this?

I love Point Blank more than a small kitten wearing a hat, but I just can't imagine swapping a gun for a stylus.

I used to play it John Woo style, with a gun in each hand. It's something I experimented with on House of the Dead, just as a way of doubling my firepower, but with Point Blank you have to really think. Synchronised shooting at two points on the screen, gunning for red ducks with your left hand and blue ducks with your right, etc.

And no, the original G-Con didn't kick back, which was quite a disappointment.
