Huzzah!
Yeah, that cover is pretty hot, but I'm going to track down my print copy of #4 before I preorder this one. I suspect treachery on the part of my eternal nemesis, the USPS.
I really like the new site color scheme too. Is this going to be a tradition with each new issue? |

Haven't gotten too deep into the issue yet, but the cover is really nice! And I think the layouts are getting better.
Dess I hope if your article generates any hatemail it'll be at least really amusing. |

This was a fine issue indeed!
I give my respect to all who got together and composed it so beautifully in such a short amount of time.
Also, a typo on Shaper's Editorial. He says "can" when he means "can't," I think. _________________

I guess it shows that it was written about 30 min before the issue went up. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

I am at school right now, waiting to go home, so I can dive into this wonderful issue. I need privacy to read the Gamer's Quarter. Looks like I'll be alone tonight! _________________

Thanks guys.
Especially Wes: May The Road to Sorrow be shouted around the internet so as to drown out those fools. Chibi Robo's felt like a dear and unfairly maligned friend to me and I'm happy there's an accurate, caring reflection on it out there.
Edit: By those fools I mean not the GAF fools, but the Big Game Journalist ones. |

Congrats with the latest issue. I'd like to provide some design feedback though:
1. Currently, Gamers Quarter articles have text arranged in two vertical columns. When you view a PDF magazine article on a computer monitor that is laid in this way, you begin by reading the first half of the first column. You then have to scroll down one frame to view the last half of the first column, scroll up to view the first half of the second column and then scroll down a third time to view the last half of the second column.
Could Gamers Quarter consider laying text in three half-columns with a picture on the bottom? This way, the articles would be easier to read. The reader could read all three columns without scrolling and then scroll down for the picture.
For variety, you could also use a three-column layout with a full column on the left, followed by two half columns on the bottom of the page. This way, the reader begins by reading the first half of the first column, scrolls down once to read the last half of the first column and then reads straight across for the second and third columns. You could use a long picture or artwork to fill in the empty top halves of the second and third columns.
Sorry, a bit confusing there! But please think about it for future issues.
2. Accompany all screenshots with captions.
Lastly, consider enforcing gender neutrality in articles eg "people, this is Rez" (Williamson) instead of "gentlemen, this is Rez".
Ciao! |

Some people broadly define the term "loses". And the phrase "back in the day". |

Yes it did. We sent an announcement to the mailing list... are you on the mailing list?
Expect it sometime this week unless your shipment did not get shipped in the first batch. If so then expect it soon. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

I ordered and paid for (credit card) 3 or 4 issues back on 26 April and still have not received them. I live in New Zealand, so any idea when i should expect them to arrive? I went for the cheapest shipping option if i remember correctly. Thanks |

You know what I find DAMNED creepy?
Is how when I visit different forums, I see the same faces... It's almost like... Every forum has been invaded by the same members of some kind of secret Illuminati order, and everywhere I go I find the same old masters, stirring the pot, and influencing the flow of discussion and human thought. Otherwise why would these different, and totally unconnected forums, have the same people on it? Huh?! Try and answer that if you can.
It can only be because of some kind of grand infiltration scheme by such people, they work their way in, maybe even develop some kind of authority, and then BOOM! You're having your genitals beamed into outer space while 12 foot insects dissect your brain! |

I mean, I just noticed on that GAF forum (which I've never been to before), I spotted several people who post either on here or IC (or maybe both), but also on the GamesTM forum, and on several other forums I go to (and some of them are moderators on these forums...)
I mean it could just mean we're all part of a very cliquey group of intensely passionate gamers, or that the gaming population who post online is not as large as one might think, etc.... But when I posted that message, for a moment it all seemed like a grand conspiracy. |

It's all about the games, yo! We just go where the games at!
So, I've ordered my print copy of TGQ #5 and re-ordered #4. Everyone with a kind and generous soul, please chant postal hymns and sacrifice small game cartridges to the almighty deity Yuuesspiiess that my books arrive this time. |

I'm pretty sure the population of gamers that actively post online isn't as indicative of the real population of people that actually game.
It's probably a really small boat that we're all sailing on. _________________

Cool, I got my copy yesterday. Muchos gracias!
Couldn't read it any, because as soon as I settled down to read it, I was called into the heart of San Antonio on an emergency mission to see my girlfriend. But I look forward to traversing its pages this evening. |

Here is a wild idea: Edit the news posts and get rid of the red text that talks about pre-orders, since it lies somewhere between "irrelevant" and "confusing". |

So, have all the orders for #5 been shipped yet? It's going on four weeks since I placed my order, and I'm starting to get a little worried, especially with my previous issue #4 still lost in postal limbo. If everything hasn't gone out yet, then that's cool, because at least I know where it is. |

Actually, we're about 4 weeks behind on shipping orders. I've been mega slacking lately (working on the magazine instead) and I'd like to apologize. I'll send everything out on Monday, and I'll throw in an Extra Issue #4 for you just in case it might have gotten lost in the mail.

Oh, no worries, I'm just glad to hear that shipping is just behind and not waylaid by my eternal nemesis, the USPS. There's no hurry to get it shipped; as I said, I was more concerned with WHERE it was specifically.
And, uh, I wouldn't say no to an Extra Issue #4, but I did pay for one in my current order as well, so whether or not you want to throw one in is up to you. I'm fine either way. Thanks a lot for the offer! |

I don't know what is the appropriate venue for trading out-of-print issues, but I have one crisp Jackson to barter for a hard-copy of issue #5 appearing at my door. |

hello!
thank you for this wonderful thread. i have indeed found it quite helpful. i think gaming is a wonderful world, a bit underrated at times, and you are doing a hell of a great job at taking it seriously. me, my only tip is i recommend the book "(Spam Link)Got Game: How the Gamer Generation Is Reshaping Business Forever(Spam Link)" - which is a very interesting read and low priced too, and helped me understand the relaiton between gaming and business much better.
best,
jason |
