...sketches from Toru Iwatani's sketchbook during an interview for "Programmers at Work". The last one is explaining how Pac-Man is eyeless because of a certain slippery slope. Though I guess Ms. Pac-Man kind of blew that design conservatism out of the water.

Did he have anything to do with Ms Pac Man though? I thought it was a case of Midway overstepping the bounds of their license.

If memory serves Ms. Pac-Man was an independent Mod/Hack that later got roped into the fold.

I heard some talk that the recent (and excellent!) Pac-Man CE for Xbox Live was the first time Toru Iwatani was back at the head of a Pac-Man game.

Just a guess, those banners look pretty similar though in terms of font and the graphics used to fill the window edges.

OR

I'm trying to make banners of every game I play. I could take plenty more from the first game... but I probably won't!

Also I'm not using jpegs from this point on because they use horrible, horrible compression. These file types look far better and are also well below the size limit.

Yes, it is indeed from the terrible, terrible Skunny game, Save Our Pizzas!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6AP3TyzpxI!

They're notorious for stealing the code from Wacky Wheels for Skunny Kart!

Here's another one!

The one Copysoft didn't make was actually a pretty decent game. All the other ones are hilariously bad. They're like the Z-Grade of PC platformers.

I don't know which one I like the best. What do YOU think?

The introduction of our hero.

the above one bugs me because i couldnt centre it. stupid exploding star extended outside of the screen!

THE ULTIMATE CROSS-OVER.

A happy ending!

Someone make a DOS thread, already.

Captain Comic couldn't win a fight against Captain Planet.

Actually, could Batman beat Captain Planet? He could do some pretty amazing stuff. Perhaps if Batman had enough time to prepare.

also would you look at all these nice banners goign to waste

Doesn't Batman keep information on every superhero's weaknesses? He'd just have to go after that kid with the lame heart power because he is the weakest link and it is time for him to say "goodbye". Maybe just walk up to him in the street and blackjack him, problem solved*.

*Captain Planet is a problem and Batman just solved him.

Oh man, you're right. Batman = 1, Captain Planet = 0.

Man seriously, what was that HEART crap. I think he used it like twice.

Also, trivia: Captain Comic had a commercial sequel, and an unlicensed NES adventure (from Color Dreams, no less). He was offered a deal from Apogee, but thought shareware games wouldn't make enough money and kept his day job.

Fire was the best you could burn down a forest or two with that. Though that guy didn't try to do that, not even "accidentally" during the process of burning the tires on one of the badguy's Hummers. I know he was totally thinking of doing that.
