Domu is yours. Would you consider it in trade for Silent Hill? Barring that, do you have any manga or books you're looking to trade off?

If you like the stories in Burning Chrome, you ought to like Neuromancer. "Burning Chrome" and "Johnny Mnemonic" both tie in--however minutely--to Neuromancer, and to an extent you could even consider "Burning Chrome" to be "Neuromancer Lite. Kind of.

I'll trade Silent Hill if you can offer me something in addition to Domu. Some kind of anime or manga or maybe a book or a game even. I don't know.

I deal in organs. Aside from that, I think my friend would enjoy FF9. If that's gone, then nothing; I'll just send it along shortly.

dude, 8 is the most ridiculous. i actually shut it off and uninstalled it from my pc when the orphanage sequence began. to this day i have no idea how they justified that; i just knew that my childhood was truly dead.

Well...I can't really say anything to that.

But...I don't know...I thought the whole game was profound, almost like eating a whole shelf of YA and SF library books over three days.

That's a pretty good place to quit the game, really.

I've been wanting to play it again lately.

Lies and fallacies!

The derision that FFVIII receives makes me think that I am the last soldier of a forgotten bastion, huddled in a trench line running through the ruins of Trabia Garden. I'm bandaged and wounded, few people visit here, only a few come to throw rocks now and then. But I remain, snuggling up against my machine gun, a Rinoa locket tied to its trigger guard.

I liked what I played of it, I just haven't finished it yet. I made it to the second disc and, realizing I forgot a GF in disc 1, decided to start over. I have never made it back to the second disc.

seryogin: Domu + As Yet Unnamed Item for Silent Hill sounds good, I'm just unsure of what else to offer. Might you be interested in a trade paperback of Gibson's Virtual Light or Lovecraft's The Lurker At The Threshhold?

EDIT: Also, if Otomo is your thing, I have a few non-sequential color issues of the Akira manga published by Epic before Dark Horse came along and shepherded the series into its lust-inducing collections.

Color Akira isn'y my thing. In fact, it shouldn't be anyone's thing as far as I'm concerned.

Dereleth's thefts of Lovecraft don't interest me either.

Does the trade of Virtual Light have that godawful cover of the dude in VR glasses?

Domu and Virtual Light isn't a bad trade, though for Silent Hill, something else wouldn't be bad either. Maybe another paperback of something good, I'm intersted in all things Japanese, science fiction of the Vance, Dick, Wolfe type.

I don't suppose you have any other DC games for trade? I wish I were getting more out of that system, but all I feel like playing for it is Sega Marine Fishing.

It's impossible to find any non-football/baseball titles in used game stores around here.

I wouldn't mind getting rid of Shenmue, but I imagine you already have that. Maybe Ecco or MDK 2. Everything else I'd like to keep, really.

No biggie if you aren't interested.

Ooh, Shenmue and Ecco pique my interest.

And I actually bought Skies off eBay for not very much but I didn't enjoy it hugely so it's not a big deal for me. Literally the only Dreamcast game I own that I haven't mentioned is some still-wrapped ATV game that came with the system.

Well, let's see. Both of my games are in excellent condition, complete with all manuals and inlays, and sparkling jewel cases. How about yours? Are your FFVII or Star Ocean: TSS originals? I really can't stand to see the awful ectoplasm green of the Greatest Hits cases on my shelf. I would be happy to trade Shenmue and Ecco for Skies and one other game. Does your Sega Bass Fishing happen to include the fishing controller? I don't know if I'd want that, anyway, but I'm curious. If you had a copy of Seaman with a microphone, you'd have a deal. I'd even throw in a third item.

FFVII is the ugly-ugly Greatest Hits version I'm afraid. Star Ocean is from Blockbuster so it's certainly not a collection-worthy item; stickers on everything, tattered manual with a big "PROPERTY OF" label, etc.

I do have the fishing controller but I'm keeping it for Marine Fishing. I may as well just take Bass Fishing off the list, actually.

Want to trade that for Ecco?

Sounds like a deal.

Skies is in beautiful condition, still has it's glossy sheen and I don't think I've ever even taken the manual out of the case.

Dereleth? Curses, it is! That was one of those rare paperbacks that I bought on a whim and never read, as I'd already had one of the more comprehensive anthologies of Lovecraft's work. I didn't even notive it was the spawn of Dereleth! Gah!

Quote:

Sadly, yes. To be honest, I've never seen a copy of the book without the scary VR guy, unless I take the dust jacket off of my hardback copy.

I'm not sure if I really have anything to offer - I certainly have no Vance or Wolfe, and the Dick books I do have, you've already mentioned owning. I think I still have a N64 Yuke! Yuke! Troublemakers cart around somewhere, but that's about the extent of it. If you just want Domu - well, let me know what you have that you'd think is worth it.

Eh, fine. Domu and Virtual Light will be good, though I'll have to rip off Virtual Light's cover for it to not freak me out.

It's not like I'll be playing Silent Hill anytime soon.

Silent Hill scares me. I literally cannot play the game without the lights on and people in the house with me. In fact, Silent Hill 2 is the only one I could actually bring myself to finish and that's only with a complete walkthrough and my door open.

Silent Hill is too much. It's only when I went back to replay it last year that I noticed how subtle the effects are. I mean, I never noticed that the camera slowly zooms into James whenever he's not moving.

The only way I'll ever see the game through to completion is if dhex comes over and plays it for me. And if dhex is coming over then someone's getting high, and it's not going to be my neighbors. Playing Silent Hill on any sort of drugs would probably drive us both over the edge.

Anyway, gmail me your coordinates and I'll do the same. I'd rather the game belong to someone who'll actually play it.

I used to own Silent Hill, and why I sold it off I can never remember. I think it was one of those times where I was desperate enough for spending money that the $10 I got for it on eBay seemed a small fortune.
I had the same problem as you when I played the game - it's really damn freaky. Although, for some perverse reason I embraced the freakiness of an empty apartment with no lights on. That was the only way I used to play it, in fact. I do the same now with Fatal Frame. Anyways, gmail ahoy!

I have the PC fan port of Silent Hill. If anyone wants, get me your email address and I will use YouSendIt.com and get it to everyone. I have not tested it yet, but sources point to: Hell yea.

Here's what I have, and am willing to trade:

PC adventure games(I got these along with The Longest Journey NO I'M STUPID I MEANT THE LAST EXPRESS, if anyone tells me they're actually any good I'll probably hold on to them, but signs point to bleh from what I see):

Azrael's Tear
Robot City
Legend of Lotus Spring (also mac compatible, but it has to be an old mac, not classic mode)

PC/Mac:

Myth II:Soulblighter

Mac:

Ferazel's Wand
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
Escape from Monkey Island

N64:

Snowboard Kids

GBA:

Pokemon Sapphire
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap

Gamecube:

Future Tactics
Tube Slider
Rogue Leader
Pacman World 2 / Pacman vs. 2-pack

I know it's kind of a bland list, but I tend to replay the games I like the best.

edit: also, I'm interested in a legit copy of Grim Fandango.

And I'd be willing to let go of Tube Slider and/or Pacman World 2 for a cd-r of your favorite tunes, but if you think that music is for weaklings it'd be nice if you paid for shipping.

Lackey: If you're interested in a trade for any of those things, I'd like to know.

I have:

Polarium
Double Dragon Advance
Mech Platoon GBA (just the cart)
Rumble Roses PS2 (I got it from endless chris and I'm afraid to open it)
Contra Shattered Soldier
Final Fantasy XII demo? (hell if I want it)

Looking mostly for GBA or DS games, possibly genesis games, curios, the (extremely) odd psx title, etc.

I'd like to hear about those games.

???

The zarf review has me intrigued. I've had no success in getting it to run under classic or a 68k emulator (Basilisk), so I'll have to try the PC version (I love having both versions on one disc. It makes me think fondly of the days of the MULTIMEDIA REVOLUTION).

wourme: check your PM box

also, the two non-lotus spring adventure games could be had for a song/shipping as well.

a gamecube game would be nice, if you can manage it. Otherwise, make me an offer; I have a gamecube, a gameboy advance, a mac, and a playstation emulator with spotty compatibility (thanks for silent hilll shaper; too bad the game made pcsx crash when gameplay started). And Virtual PC, which can comfortably play games released before 1998 or so.

Sorry to break topic here, but did one of my posts disappear?

I could have sworn I said thanks to Shaper for the Silent Hill, and maybe something about Beyond Oasis and Rogue Leader.

Are you import-capable? I've got a PAL copy of Doushin The Giant that I'm never going to play, and it runs comfortably at 60Hz with a Freeloader or otherwise modded 'cube. Other than that, all I really have that's liquid as far as Gamecube goes is a store demo disc.

Is your Mac capable of playing OLD games? I've got a copy of Loom I picked up on a whim (hey, it was $1.99 at Goodwill!), but no Mac to play it on as of yet.

dark steve STOP BEING ENIGMATIC

I'm afraid I already have loom and my gamecube isn't import-compatible. Sad

You should really get scummvm and play with loom using that; it's great.

Oh, I've already got Loom on my PC, courtesy of the Lucasarts collection that contained most of the early adventure games by the company. And it comes on delightfully quaint 3.5 floppies as well!
I just picked up the Mac version because I thought it was a nifty collectable, what with the audiocassette and all.

Curse you, Rogue Leader! You elude me again, but your days are declining in number!

Greatsaintlouis - I only now noticed that you asked me about Rogue Leader earlier. I think I saw something about DoDonPachi and skipped the rest of your post. Sorry! But yes, I have a copy of Rogue Leader I don't really want, and actually your PAL Doshin sounds really cool. PM me if you want to hash something out.

Don't suppose you're interested in anything on my list? I realize it's pretty slim.
