I have seen this already.... what the hell have I seen this already? It is only a week or so ago that I saw it... but this is creeping me out. Who the hell linked this previously?

Apparently there WAS a "perfect" ending to Night Trap. Don't know what was up with that perfect run, since the trapped counts are the same.

The ending shown here is pretty great. It's almost as if they knew what they were doing.

When I finally get around to sending you that "ultimate history of video games" you will learn an interesting little bit of history on it and probably be somewhat impressed by it, or the history (not the game, not in the least).

Can anyone help with a technical problem?

When watching certain AVIs from TAS Videos, the audio is falling out of sync with the video. It's incremental, the first sounds are almost in sync, but after several minutes of playing, the gap is several seconds long. I've been having trouble finding information about the problem. Any thoughts?

I think it's one of those nasty codec things that can only be resolved by voodoo magic. Often there are multiple implementations and versions of the same codec that won't work quite right. I remember having massive problems with FFDshow sometime in the fairly recent past, though I no longer remember exactly what those problems were. They may have fixed them by now. I also had a massive sync problem with a few of the TAS videos that I resolved by using VLC instead of WinAMP. So, who knows?

you could also just run the movies in the emulators. it's nowhere near as absurdly stupid as marp.

incidentally, this tool-assisted run of chaotix is pretty nifty, as it's essentially about bugging the heebie jeebies out of the game. you should probably keep a book on hand or something, though, as the time spent between stages is about as long as the time spent in them.

R-Type Leo is amazing. It is a damn shame that has never received a console release.

also hilights from dune. it's a curious hybrid of adventure and strategy, and i feel it captures the book better than the rts sequel.

(though of course it takes necessary liberties, and the game's narrative is necessarily nowhere near as rigid as the novel's.)

there's a sega cd port, apparently, but i havn't tried it yet for fear of voice acting.

so hey.

i finally picked this up, since play-asia had it on sale.

it is exactly what it claims to be - a video of capcom game endings. we see the title of a game, the last few seconds of a battle with the final boss, then the ending: the credits, the enemy role call, the amusing japlish ("you feel strongth welling in your chest").

there are a lot of old and good capcom games (see the official site for the full list), though some (higemaru, son son) are absent. (strider 2 is there, though!) and many, many street fighter endings. you can use the forward/backward buttons to skip through characters. street fighter 2 (in all its incarnations) and third strike are absent, but all the endings from zero 2, ex plus, and the first two iterations of street fighter 3 are present.

all the other fighting games featured, including the vampire savior games, have a single ending each. i havn't played those games extensively, but isn't there an ending for each character? if there is, i'm not sure what the point of featuring those games at all is if a single ending is going to be shown.

the dvd comes with a small art book (some of which i may scan at some point), which has lots of nice material: arcade flyers, promotional material, and character movelists. all from the fighting games, of course.

it's an interesting look at capcom's history as a developer. maybe a better one if the endings were actually presented in chronological order. (also the punisher ending is sorely missing.) i wouldn't pay full price for it. and i didn't!

So everybody has to see Takeshi's MGS2 speedrun on this page, as I assume most of you have already. It's basically the most impressive feat in any game I've ever seen, I think. And that page is full of other awesome things to watch, too.

They're set up to automatically open windows media player and load to your cache. I think you need a plugin for it. I have them all saved if you can't get it to work. But they're each almost 20 megs, so I can't gmail them.

The part that really hooked me was the spread at the beginning. Gorgeous. That takes dedication and I hate to imagine how long it took to make.

Well Trackmania has the ghosts built in. I'm not sure if you can set it to 1000 in the game or if that involved some sort of trickery, but the basis is there.

not that i'm a fan of something awful or slapstick violence, but this is pretty impressive.

the something awful kids got ahold of this professional quality physics simulator and used it to create all manner of ridiculous rube goldberg-esque torture devices. kind of terrifying, kind of enthralling.

videos of every stage of r-type final at r-typer difficulty on youtube. if you watch this game instead of play it, you're not missing much. if you havn't seen r-type final's stage F-A you really should. ships used are the last dancer, curtain call, and of course cross the rubicon.

shmups superplay starbase has an incredibly dumb name. they also have a hundred youtube videos, including the danmaku shooter documentary, with english subtitles! which is a pretty good documentary, though they pronounce g-rev like it's a word with one syllable.

I am looking for a replay movie of Final Fantasy 8. I don't want to play the game right now (indeed, the last time I tried it wouldn't even work in my PS2), but I would be more than willing to sit through somebody's video of an entire playthrough. Preferably the video would include all the important dialogue and, of course, the cutscenes. World map travel and most battles could be omitted, I imagine.

Basically, I want someone who's done the work for me, so I can watch the story.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find something like this?

someone recorded a speedrun of megaman powered up (aka rockman rockman). mostly on easy mode. boo. i assume the + blocks are placed to keep easy players from hurting themselves? are the bosses this easy even on normal? because the yellow devil dying without a single chance to split is sad.

oil man's weapon looks like it actually adds something to the game (other than racism).

God no, Yellow Devil is hard on normal (which is all I played it on). I'll check out the video later to see what he does though, I could just be missing a trick.

Also Oil Man's weapon is hard as hell to use properly
