I have beaten Hexic HD

At least, I have beaten SuperWes's obnoxiously high score. Now I never have to play this game again.

That looks like a stock photo for something thatbox. Not to say it's bad, because its really good. It just has that look to it for some reason.

It's my mom's scanner. I'm not sure what kind it is, some type of Canon, but I scanned it at 600 dpi and used Photoshop elements to make a mid-sized jpeg.

Here's full size.

What matters is that I've always been awesome, rocking the ColecoVision in my He-Man T-shirt.

Sentai/Giant Robot Song?

For Fucking Konami Week I went and played some bemani games (okay I do this every week) at SVGL. Toast and I played this song which sounded a lot like a sentai or giant robot anime theme song.

I'm afraid I don't know much about the composer, but "iFUTURELIST" is a soundtrack that (for whatever reason) got uploaded to quite a few places with VG and anime music soundtracks. A lot of people, including myself, like it! It's chiptuney but without the chiptunes, I guess. As far as I know it hasn't appeared in any giant robot opening videos, however.

The composer is the dude who did all the music for Silent Hill, so he went from making creepy ambient or clanging songs to iFUTURELIST, which is either a huge jump or perfectly obvious, I still haven't decided.

There's probably more to it than that.

Ok, I don't know HOW I missed this, but yes, Yamaoka is most famous for his work on Silent Hill. He is the current caretaker for the series right now, and his favorite game in the series is *groan* 3. Anyways, he did greenlight SH4 so he's not all bad!

He has also done quite a lot of tracks for Beatmania, and is one of the "regulars" for the series. iFUTURELIST is his original album that he released outside of silent hill/beatmania. Though about half of the tracks on the album are remixes/remakes of Beatmania IIDX tracks. Some of the wackier songs in IIDX (Lion Suki [sp?]) are now more coherent and new versions of his better stuff (love me do) are really good.

Small trivial information about Yamaoka: he did guitar for one track in Symphony of the Night! Also, the best interview with him I've ever seen was from the british documentary/making of Silent Hill 2 (fairly easily found on youtube). It really shows what he's trying to go for. Also, Yamaoka is the only person left on team silent that's been around since the beginning. A while back I put together a Silent Hill Family Tree to show how the staff has progressed and also to make the connections with Siren (which there aren't many). If you want to take a look be my guest.

This was on sale at Amazon for $12, but they also gave me a discount so I only paid $4 for it (and that was for shipping).

after seeing that gameboy camera photo of a flogger, someone on selectbutton suggested that a series of gameboy camera photos of s/m toys could be a neat thing. i thought so too, so i went ahead and took one. dot matrix kink within.

"The Pedalternorotandomovens Centroculatus Articulosus came into existence (spontaneous generation), because of the absence, in nature, of wheel shaped, living creatures with the ability to roll themselves forward. The accompanying 'beastie' depiction, referred to as 'revolving bitch' or 'roll paunch' in laymen's terms, subsequently anticipates the need with sensitivity. Biological details are still few: is it a mammal, a reptile, or an insect? It has a long, drawn-out, horned, sectioned body and three sets of legs; the ends of which look like the human foot. In the middle of the fat, round head, that is provided with a strong, bent parrots beak, they have bulb-shaped eyes, which, placed on posts, protrude far out from both sides of the head. In the stretched out position, the animal can, slow and cautiously, with the use of his six legs, move forward over a variety of terrains (it can potentially climb or descend steep stairs, plow through bushes, or scramble over boulders). However, when it must cover a great distance, and has a relatively flat path to his disposal, he pushes his head to the ground and rolls himself up with lightning speed, at which time he pushes himself off with his legs- for as much as they can still touch the ground. In the rolled up state it exhibits the form of a discus, of which the eye posts are the central axle. By pushing off alternately with one of his three pairs of legs, he can achieve great speeds. It is also sometimes desirable during the rolling (i.e.. The descent of an incline, or coasting to a finish) to hold up the legs and 'freewheel' forward. Whenever it wants, it can return again to the walking position in two ways: first abruptly, by suddenly extending his body, but then it's lying on his back with his legs in the air, and second through gradual deceleration (braking with his feet) and slowly unrolling backwards in standing position." -MCE-
