You know what's dumb? When people change the word 'women' to 'wimmin' or 'womyn'.

I can understand the thinking behind it- it's because the word 'woman' is just 'man' with a suffix- and it suggests that men were the original and women come from men. It's a clearly language built on outmoded mysogynist sensibilites.

But it's dumb to change the word 'woman', because 'human' has the word 'man' in it, too! And to lose the man/men part of the word 'woman' takes you off the same etymological root as 'human'. Human, Man, Womyn?? That sounds like you're saying women are not human!

MORE PRACTICAL SOLUTION

Instead of changing the word 'woman', why don't we just make a new word to describe males, something like 'gaman'? Then we still have 'man' and 'human' to define humanity, but then we've got two equal words to describe each gender, and neither one is the root of the other. BETTER. MAKES MORE SENSE. You can have that one for free, ladies.

Why not just call people "you"?

But no pointing because that is a form of rape.

Hmm, I was thinking, I guess all babies start out female in the womb, don't they? So I guess if you were going to invent a religion today you could quite easily find grounds to say men come from women and not the other way round, the way the bible has it. Also, men do come from women in quite a literal sense.

If most western religions see God as having creating man in his own image and then having created woman from man, are there any ancient religions that had women as the default gender and man coming second?

Many brainy experts believe prehistoric society to have been matriarchal, because, as you point out, babies come from women. But then we got smart enough to notice that babies don't come from women unless men put their dicks in them first, and power shifted from women to men.

People worshipped fertility back then, above all else, so far as I understand it. So, yeah, it seems reasonable to conclude that they more or less worshipped women.

This is all just stuff I've heard and/or read. I don't really know what I'm talking about.

Further to my considered and insightful notes on feminism, here are some more! WARNING: stultifyingly offensive

So I'm still trying to figure out this whole 'chicks dig rape' thing! I just had a sort of holiday romance with a girl who was over here for a couple of weeks. There would be times when she was not in the mood for the sex act, but I was, and when I kind of coaxed her into it it was be the best sex we ever had!

She would be saying 'NO, JAMESU, WE SHOULD NOT DO IT' whilst simultaneously taking out her hair clip, which from my experience with her I knew was the sure sign she was about to consent to sex! Simultaneously saying yes and no! HUH??? But one unfortunate time it turned out she genuinely didn't want sex and our lovemaking was strained and perfunctory and painful for her, the poor sausage, so I had to stop it.

To reiterate, my predicament is that sometimes this girl really meant 'yes' when she said no and my pursuing of this conviction led to great sex for us both. But sometimes she really did mean 'no' and my quest for sex led to a sordid and ugly situation! How to tell the difference??

I'm assuming this is a Dr. Who reference, but the only reference I could find on the internet was this:

wikipedia wrote:
The sci-fi comedy book Bikini Planet features aliens from Algol. They are a feminist society and all have lizard-like features.

I used to read a lot of 70's feminist comic strips if that answers your question? They were really interesting but weird because a lot of it was quite morally confused and ill-thought-out, not to mention misandrist (I had to look that word up). That whole womyn/wimmin thing always bugged me. They're such ugly terms, and they create more linguistic problems than they solve! It seems to ghettoize women rather than put them on a level pegging.

From Phantasy Star II on, "techniques" and many utilitarian items have a cryptic yet somewhat consistent naming scheme of roots, prefixes, and sometimes suffixes.

Foi = fire
Rafoi stronger fire
Gifoi = even stronger fire
Nafoi = whoa, strong fire!

I probably have mixed up the order a little.

Wow, I sure showed up late.

I remember in microbiology we briefly studied how the male chromosome is probably a mutation of the female X chromosome in humans - meaning, ultimately, all men are freaks. One of those necessary mutations, I suppose.

Interestingly, in certain reptilian species or fish or something, it's the other way round - the X is the male chromosome.

I don't really like the womyn thing, mostly because it sounds silly. I've always used girl, doll, or chick to refer to girls, mostly depending on the personality archetype of the girl in question. Likewise, boys get called boys, and I use "guys" to refer to groups in any context.

For some people, certainly, pole or hole would be entirely appropriate.

Yeah, that evolution thing.

I guess we do look a bit like apes.

Or it could be another of God's ways of mocking the hubris of those cleverpants scientists.

Like that prank with the seashell fossils way high up in the mountains.

Hoo boy!

Good one, God!

With their tongues.
