so as to not interfere with the mac fps thread hijack he's got going on Smile

Quote:
I haven't tried any of his stuff, I'll have to check it out. Welt really is an amazing album, though. On the other hand, his follow-up album was quite underwhelming. Here's hoping the third is awesome.

well, take this for what it's worth - i think ogre's solo stuff is awful. like, stupendously so. even "the process" i can see through the cracks and see what they were trying to do, though i still think they failed. it's (edit: i mean ogre's solo stuff) bad like that breakdancing video off of that horrible puppy reuniting album with the terrible name i don't even want to google.

however, on the key tip, i would recommend thusly:

download: one must have the eyes of stanley pain. why? because that album was years ahead of its time, and is fucking amazing. the same goes for III. if you like that stuff, the rest is also very good but those two are essential. i was disappointed by effector when it first came out, expecting the sort of insane majesty that is III, but it has since grown on me as a weird little nugget of a simpler time. stanley pain will make you think "oh yeah thanks dwayne, thanks heroin, good job guys."

in terms of solo stuff, i really enjoy music for cats. it's uh quirky. and it sounds good.

now, plateau:

spacecake and music for grass bars are both super excellent. music for grass bars a little moreso. extremely techno-y in a good way. i have not heard the new new one, and i was not so into iceolator.

the tear garden: if you like LPD, then the tear garden stuff will probably be up your alley.

further caveat: the two puppy albums i love to death are too dark park and last rights. in fact, i consider last rights one of the greatest albums of all time, particularly considering how it was made back the days before every laptopper could mash it up with little effort. i have no beef with vivisectvi and will occassionally yell "VX GAS...AHH TACK" to no one in particular when i am home alone. rabies is kinda boring and i have no use for new wave.

I've listened to Too Dark Park way too many times during my lifetime. But you are right, it is awesome.

I really should revisit Last Rites.

Music for Cats is a decent personality litmus test. Lots of people get really snooty about it, which can be pretty hilarious.

Too Dark Park is my favorite, which I guess would include the singles, which have a number of excellent B-sides on them. After that, it's probably Vivisectvi. I don't even own Last Rights, which is ridiculous and I need to rectify that ASAP.

I'm looking at that guy's favorites and somehow stumbled back into the Wand of Gamelon/Over 9000/Kirby remix videos. I don't understand any of it. I'm convinced it's the future of comedy.

i was wondering why the hell someone was calling me out about puppies, then i was like "ooohhhh :O"

i guess i should admit that i enjoy pop-centric music as much as experimental tracks, which probably explains why I enjoy ohgrs stuff which has a pretty good sense of fun, and even some of the later skinny puppy stuff (thought that one music video with the breakdancing made me embarrased to be a fan).

THAT SAID, i'll have to check out some of these (later in the month before my bandwidth expires) since I never checked out keys stuff.

i have lots to download this month.

while i'm here, i should apologise for my writing quality lately, i've gotten about three horus sleep the past two weeks.

edit: god damnit daph

i am generally against dressing dogs up but i do think the kerchief thing is hilarious.

also i am going to go home later and listen to some early skinny puppy to make sure i'm still right about that.

and then i will listen to last rights again.

ps i once babysat two fratboys on acid for the first time by making them listen to last rights. they never asked me for anything ever again.

A friend in high school went to the Too Dark Park tour on acid. It took them about a month to recover.
