For what it's worth, I don't think they gave out a ten for a long while before halo 3. like a year.

I didn't know there was a yearly ration on how many games could be good in their opinion, either. Or that the tiny number very inconspicuously placed in brackets at the end of a review could so devalue anything the writing of the review said, not to mention the thoughtful time extend feature, the thorough monthly features, and monthly columns by figures like Jeff Minter and N'Gai Kroal. I really believe that Edge does a lot right, and that it is worth its subscription fee.

I sound like a salesman.

I did miss an issue or two with a change of address, though.

There's not enough ammo in HL2 for the revolver. I'd use it more if there was.
But there's more than enough revolver ammo in E1 and E2 to make up for that, methinks

I just don't like the writing. There's too much stuff in there every month that makes me think 'these people are fucking stupid'. They're just your bog-standard UK videogame journalists- the only thing that's different is that they all have to adhere to a rigid style guide.

Minor warning for anyone who wants to read but hasn't finished HL2: There's some major end game spoilers here. Also, I feel like I had this article conversation with you a week ago aderack

So it was fresh in your memory. I thought it odd that you responded to me with pretty much quotes from your article!

So, I finally got around to playing Ep.1

It was pretty great in the same vein as HL2 is pretty great. I played it for the "one bullet only mode" and apparently I used more than one bullet in the game somewhere (not including rockets/grenades/crowbar). My only guess is that I missed the lock and shot at it twice. A bit upsetting honestly.

Anyways, the story that they end up following is a bit disappointing considering that I've finally come to terms with the ending that they gave HL2. The whole episode kind of reeks of appeasing the upset fans. Granted they still end up doing great things with it.

So, yeah, I'm torn, but mostly about the retconing of the ending. I mean, even the new ending basically says that no one was happy with how the ending was progressing so they were holding up Gman's plans.
