tiny cameras and microphones in the back of the airplane seat in front of you will monitor all of your movements and speech for any indication that you are a terrorist (and / or muslim).

here are some of the warning signs the system will watch/listen for:

  • stroking your hair.
  • licking your lips.
  • reciting passages from the quoran.
  • blinking.

"we're trying to develop technologies that indicate the differences between normal passengers and those who may be a threat to others, or themselves," says catherine neary, team leader of SAFEE.

I feel really bad for one of my profs from college who had this eye disease that caused him to blink almost constantly. It's a good thing he isn't Indian or middle-eastern too, but that's not saying much at this point.

They say that rapid eye movements, blinking excessively, licking lips or ways of stroking hair or ears are classic symptoms of somebody trying to conceal something.

So like -- what if like, say, I pop like a HUGE boner on the plane, and you know, I can't really afford to wait till I land (layover isn't long enough), and so like, you know, I play a little pocket pool (because, really, what else is there to do on a plane?)

I mean there'd be some pretty rapid eye movements going on right there if you know what I mean!!

Yeah, I see people fidgiting like this on just about every flight. I mean, people panic on these things, get nervous, get claustrophobic.

I...

don't know anymore.

oh ingsoc! why not just box and package your citizens? arms and legs are so troublesome and hard to plan for.

suuuuuuuuuuure.

it'd be so much easier to just lock the cockpit doors automatically and fly with air marshalls. but they sure do love their gadgets.
