I don't know much about Greeks! I know there is a building around here that houses both the "Athens Travel Agency" and "Falafel Palace"! I think the guy who cooks the falafel might also sell plane tickets to Greece?
They seem nice enough though! They're open late, until like 3am, so when I'm in the area, it is a nice place to get some much needed food when heading home at 2am.

I really don't think that I can make this quarter's deadline. My main problem with the article I'm writing is that I was overconfident about it when I first got the idea to do it this last summer. I thought that I could just mill it out over the course of a couple of weeks; I was going to work on it really fast and get it done easily--that was the theory. However, since then I've compiled a rather insurmountable quantity of data that I have to do justice to and I've watched my basic thesis evolve beyond anything I had originally imagined it being. Things didn't work out as planned, so I'm in a mess.
Whatever the case, I'll be taking some time to review older chapters this week, I think, but I only have maybe 35% of it written, tops. It's going to take a while to sort the whole thing out, but I want it to be good. I'll get it kicked out the door soon enough, even if it kills me.
Also, I hope I didn't jostle anyone on IC. It ain't my goal to be a jerk, though I am one sometimes.

I'm trying to say that while icyclam was a terrible moderator and should never have been appointed, assigning blame exclusively to him (or to brandon, or both) for the 4chan invasion is just to be willfully ignorant.
This all being said, the more I think about it the more I think everyone was justified in how they responded. I'm just disappointed in the fact that we could've behaved better and maybe kept all this from happening. But the truth is no one expects a 4chan invasion, so I was being a little hard on everyone.
That being said I hope we can all agree that there WERE problems with the forum in place that inspired brandon to do this to began with. Which is another way in which we are all partially responsible. Of course the punishment (as it were) is grossly disproportionate to the crime (as it were), but I hope this calamity will at least be taken as an opportunity for soul searching and all that.
I would like to state now that even if Brandon doesn't bring the forums back up, I am not ready to admit the death of the insert credit forums. At the very least I am hoping to have the forum data moved to a different server (that I will pay for myself, if I have to). They would have a different name but at least we could pick back up where we left off. Anyway this is all just speculation at this point, but once the dust has fully settled and I know brandon's position I'm going to start an official "where do we go from here" thread where we discuss possible alternatives for the future of IC. Whether or not Brandon liked them, the IC forums were a great, one-of-kind place on the internet and I'm not going to let that go away.

I've had that happen once. It involved being very emo, broke, and lots of illegal/legal substances that I didn't have to pay a cent for. The only perk of working in a restuarant in the college kingdom. I woke up refreshed, in a gown, with a needle in my arm. Scared me straight it did.
I'll be damned if MY family ever found out about that misadventure.

icyclam was one of the reasons I left to begin with so this is all pretty funny.
If I remember correctly, Brandon has always kinda disliked the forums, except at the very beginning. I remember one of his complaints being that it had a lot of conformists, people who either wanted to be Tim or Aderack and parroted everything they said. (In a paraphrase of his own words, "Suddenly everyone loves the Blue Hearts?")
The main reason I left is that every time there was a disagreement, people repeated the same arguments to each other back and forth until the thread blew up into a spamfest. Last time I checked this was still the major problem. I think one of the threads I read was "I'm getting kinda tired of Metroidish Castlevania games" vs. "I think they're still pretty good." (Which turned into "You Metroidvania haters are a bunch of elitist fuckwad posers" vs. "You Metroidvania lovers are what's wrong with videogames.") This seriously went on for pages and pages as if there were anything more to say about it than that.
Edit: I know it's pretty much the same way on the rest of the internet. That type of thing seems to get worse with forum size/site popularity.
