Yeah, as I said, I think Brandon underestimated the amount of knowledge and skill people get from being admins and mods over time, that you don't really notice, even in spite of their failings, and replacing them all at once with someone like him was pretty much a massive drop in both competency and forum respect-for-the-mods/complacency all at the same time. |

Rather he called us morons.
For perspective the day after the PS3 launch I sat on Tim's couch and he was checking his email and there was one from Brandon that said "FINAL FORUMS SOLUTION". It talked about demoding everyone and making icyclam a mod. It sounded so completely insane that I dismissed it. It also stated that DON'T SHOW THIS EMAIL TO ANYONE.
While there are more than a couple of better than good theories I have whatelse happened. I'm just going by what I've seen personally. Brandon hated the forums. He hated most of the people posting on the forums. You can tell he was doing damage control with how he acted when he responded with our comments versus his posted email with icy.
In other words, I'm pretty sure he wanted something like this to happen. |

Nah, my guess is the last backup will be restored, the old admins/mods will be begged back, an apology will be issued, and ummm... things will be awkward for a couple weeks... and maybe some new changes will slowly happen in a much better way, but IC will return to a sense of normalcy within a month or so. |

Oh my God. Creditnacht. The Great Purge. It seemed that's what he was after, but after awhile he started acting so aloof and oblivious about reactions, I assumed he was amiable but somehow foolish to an unprecedented level. Maybe he just wouldn't confess his sinister motives. Maybe more of what happened is part of a conspiracy after all.

when all is said and done, i kinda like what brandon did. it was unexpected. and for a brief moment, everyone was buzzing with something.
then the rest of the internet and its strange belief that penises are shocking came crashing through the roof, but between then and there was a space with something new.
i hope people take this opportunity to spin off into new and interesting directions. this world is a burning house, etc etc etc everything changes and everyone dies etc etc platitude etc etc and so forth.

A couple things:
1) In terms of internet hi-larity, this is up there.
2) IC refugees, I implore you to not try and recreate IC here. Aside from the impossibility of the concept, TGQ existed and was meritorious before these shennanigans, it has its own vibe and sense of style. It'll change; then again, everything changes, it's just an issue of a bunch of people showing up sight unseen and the possibility of further conflict, which can be avoided very easily through a series of considered individual choices.
Note: I'm not a TGQ staff member or anything beyond a forum semi-regular.

When I said that I thought only a few people would mosey, I was serious at the time. This was before fun stuff such as "big posts give me a headache, so keep messages to two or three lines" and "let's keep things friendly like my wonderful forum that only has twelve people" and banning the lovestick over a thread about license plates.
Now I have no bloody clue what'll happen. Brandon seems to be floating between being really surprised and sorry, to also privately wanting things to collapse into a small community that mostly talks about what he's into. It is his house, yadda yadda, so if he wants recountings of live noisecore performances and nice three-line conversations about doujin fighters, then we just aren't necessary. If the clam shakes us out of the treehouse, then Brandon doesn't lose anything.
If, on the other hand, he really thought that this plan would not seem like an insult, then wow. It's hard to imagine any plan that could be more immune to success. Still, yeah: Anybody who isn't bothered that this is how the ultimate decision making process works will probably be able to return for more in a few days.
Though I can't rule out another surprise change of plans from Brandon. Either way: The forum crew migrating to here will be treated kindly, and the IRC crew migrating to jiji's place will be treated kindly. We aren't without shelter. Just, well, it's like scratch said: This isn't meant to be IC, IC 2, or IC lite. I'll be taking the lead of the established posters. |

I was very serious when I said that I'd like to start a new forum. I have wanted to create a new website along the lines of TGQ and IC for awhile, and a forum would be a very big part of that. I am, however, totally broke. That's the only glitch. I have the time to dedicate myself to it, and you guys know I am very dedicated to our group. Just. The money.
Just FYI, I don't think anyone is thinking of "turning TGQ into IC" or anything else. I registered here as Guardian long ago and posted a little bit, and maybe I'll stick around longer this time, but I can pick up a vibe and be cool and all. Don't worry or anything. |

Wilkes, I'm not sure if this is better or worse than hopelessly falling in love with a girl who probably doesn't really like you, and finding the way she can act like a total bitch to you rather attractive -- maybe because everyone else is so nice.
