I'm playing around with a new imac and am trying to play some Windows titles. I managed to install Windows XP Pro without SP2, as well as the Mac drivers. A snag is that I am unable to go online, and the SP2 seperate installation I downloaded won't finish installing (says I don't have enough space); plus one of the Mac drivers couldn't be found, which I assume relates to my lack of SP2. Any ideas?
I installed Rome: Total War, but it fails to launch. I want to get Steam on this and redownload HL2, DoD: Source, etc. as well. I read Age of Empires 3 works with the native resolution, which I want to play around with too. _________________ Come to me, Mordel. We shall depart. |

Most of those games probably require the updated Direct X components in SP2 to run. On another note, most of those games will run very poorly on your iMac. And further, Bootcamp isn't so hot for contemporary Windows gaming.
I recently witnessed some beefy Windows games running on a gorgeous new Mac desktop with a nice game-friendly video part inside. Those motherfuckers can handle it. Expensive though, oh yes. Essentially, if one invested the same quantity of cash into building a new Windows PC, that machine would really smash the Mac's gaming performance.
I have a Mac to my right and a PC at my fingertips. One is much better than the other in a few clear cut areas. I have hugged both machines, letting them each know they have a lot to offer the world. They live together in the Network Neighborhood. I think they talk about me behind my back. |

I had to slipstream SP2 into a Windows install and burn it. That worked. I played AoE3, Rome: Total War, and a few other games - all ran well. Then Apple released an updated line of imacs and I'm having to send this one back. Overpay? No thank you! _________________ Come to me, Mordel. We shall depart. |

Hey - didn't seem like it was worth starting a new topic. Does anybody know any good way of running a console through an imac? I saw one of those eyetv products that would do it but it was expensive and one of the reviews was very specific about the games playing bit being rubbish. |

Wouldn't the only option available to you be USB tuner/capture products? _________________

That does appear to be it at the moment. I'm thinking it would probably be cheaper to find an old tv 2nd hand. The problem I have is that I do not want any tv stuff in my room because I really can't affford the licence fee. |

I've heard that there are delay issues with those as well. |
