From a McDonalds cobranded Happy Meal:

The text says:
Quote:
Have a friend toss different sports balls in the air and catch them like Yoshi® would catch fruit.

Err, isn't Yoshi's MO for catching fruit to lash out with his giant tongue and, more often than not, gulp the fruit whole? This might not be the best model for kids.

It's also pretty funny since I'm pretty sure Mario World came out in September 1990.

I'm guessing that picture of Yoshi holding his arms out is supposed to mean that Yoshi doesn't use his tongue to catch things in McDonaldland.

I seriously doubt that most McDonald's devouring kids even know who Yoshi is though.

Someone needs to make a banner out of that Happy Meal bag.

in the 90s you'd be very hard pressed to find a kid in McDonald's who didn't know who Yoshi was. I don't know when this bag is from though.

I'm guessing it's some kind of new promotion based on Yoshi's Island 2 that probably involves the Wii in some way. I don't really eat at McDonald's often.

The McRib is back, so I'll be eating there for the first time since the McRib left last.

I think my dad said that exact thing the other night. Personally, the McRib always reminded me of primary school lunch, so I've never really been a fan of it.

HELLS YEAH.

I read somewhere that McDonald's salads are actually worse for you than their "burgers". I wonder if that's true.

They should have a Mario McSalad with mushrooms and some kind of flower and, just for Yoshi fans, a melon of some sort.

It depends on the salad, especially the dressing. But some are pretty decent.

Dess, I love your work on the banner. I was going to offer to do more scanning but I can't imagine it being much better than what you got there.

I love the KevinSmith-A-Verse McD's parody's slogan: "You're Eating It"

The bag was from just this past weekend. Oddly, it had nothing to do with the included toy which was some kind of "Spy Kids" type glasses w/ swing out targetting reticule and little LED light. My pumpkin-like head was way too big for it of course.

I think the other sides of the sack sported Mario, DK, and Ronald, and were all pushing the exercise thing. Given that we have the combo of the premiere purveyors of A. Terrible Unhealthy Food and B. Reasons to sit on your ass doing nothing, it seems like some lawsuit-pre-emptive kind of thing.

If people want I could go ahead and scan more of the paper sack, but like I said, Dess really nailed it w/ the banner

I refuse to even think about touching a McRib since one was found with a razor blade in the late 80s. I think even Sinbad (remember him?) who was shilling the sandwitch at the time had to distance himself from the incident.

googling I found reference to a razor blade in the apple pies, not the McRib.

And even then...I don't think there's anything particularly razor-ish about the McRib as opposed to any of their other food products big enough to conceal something.

Not a Photoshop, this actually happened. I remember seeing it on the news when I was younger.

Has anyone seen that episode of Wonder Showzen where they go on a trip to the meat factory (it was recycled from the Kids Show pilot episode that got leaked on the internet a while back)? It was funny as hell and reminds me of what this thread is turning into.
