Whoa, Legendary Wings originally had a female protagonist. The arcade version, I mean.

My mind is blown! It was changed to a dude for the NES port. This is like The Ninja, which exchanged the ninja princess for some random ninja guy in the SMS port. And then there's Poison...

Are there any other examples of female characters being changed into male ones for wider or consumer release? Maybe of minorities changed to white guys?

I dunno, but the Runaway 5 in Mother 2 had their matching snappy suits replaced with more colourful and varied garb in Earthbound, to adhere to Western individualist principles as opposed to Eastern collectivist ones! But the Runaway 5 are based on The Blues Brothers! From America! What!

Also, it's feminine: Une BD.

Also, lol translated to mdr. i.e. Mort de rire.

Not as catchy, though.

It's a tricky language! Also, the Anglosphere doesn't have the monopoly on poor writing. THis is probably reassuring to most.

I was going to do a 'Speaking of gender-bending' link and link to a picture of Eric-Jon, but I a.) couldn't find one b.) thought it would be funnier to point out that my drawing of what I thought Eric-Jon looked like (from years ago) is one of the first things to come up when you Google Image Search his name.

Yeah, I don't have many pictures of myself. I think that grouchy-glare sepia thing is the most recent, and it's from a year and a half ago.

I didn't realize that Waugh was a Scottish name. I'd been told it was old English for "bog", but apparently that is completely untrue. I don't know anything, really, about my father's side of the family.

well, there's this.

i think it's amusing that j-h-j drew what he thought eric-jon, tim rogers and i looked like and out of the three of us, i'm the one who always wears black. um, speaking of gender-bending.

I still think it's funny I thought Tim Rogers was an overweight, genial simpleton. It actually helps if you bear that in mind when you're reading his stuff, it's a lot more palettable.

Actually I didn't think Eric-Jon was ugly, I thought he was much less of a nerd than he turned out to be (sorry Eric-Jon).
