So I'm looking around the internets and I came across this page. It's a promotional page for three different 13,650 yen PSP holders *only for girls*. Who would spend $125 on a leather PSP case? I did a little more research (by cutting off the end of the url) and found this page full of "character goods" for several different Playstation games. They've got $75 doko demo isshoo ear rings, various Loco Roco stationary, a $90 1/18th scale replica of one of the Gran Turismo cars, and a $70 Byte Hell 2000 gift set that comes with a pouch, a strap, a few buttons, and a T-shirt with a pixelated log on it.
What the hell? Who buys all of this crazy expensive stuff? Is it really worth the investment for Sony to offer an overpriced fashion apparel line?

in large enough numbers, promotionals are very cost-effective, especially when you're actually selling them. _________________

I find your lack of faith in the collector mentality disturbing. Gaming companies (both console and PC) in Japan are notorious for offering all sorts of special editions, collector's editions, and promo items galore, and the gaming public just snaps them up. And the console gaming has NOTHING on the PC gaming/anime markets in Japan in terms of expensive goodies that people actually buy. |

Yes, I as well.
And actually the Byte Hell package is not that overpriced. It's just too bad the game is not worth the original price to begin with. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

Can we just talk about videogame merchandise in general? Because I just found this and I find it very amusing.
edit: apparently this is all over the place already, silly me.
edit2: this is cute too though. _________________ | Little bird fighting against a bat sect game | |
