Make an offer.

or here

Unsigned knockoffs are cheap, though.

Oh, and it seems some of the old Interplay HTML was preserved for posterity

Even some of the links work. (panel on middle-left)

Oh, man, the movie links are down on the fallout 2 archive. I was at the release party, which is where I got the official shirt + signatures + vault boy drawing. Kinda wish I could see the vids... maybe archive.org saved them.

Yeah, hmm, seems like people are rabid at those forums. Part of me believes in capitalism but another part of me feels like it'd be a dick move to profit off of this.

Heh, that was the same observation I had. Does that make them both stupid, or both on to something?

The latest Game Informer has some new info on the game. Just read this on another forum.

Quote:
The article is based on an hour long demo GI was given. I'll list the high points

- Game runs on an evolved version of the Oblivion engine. Third person view has been reworked since the verdict was that the Oblivion version sucked balls.

- Game starts with your birth and your mother's death in a vault hospital. This is essentially the character customization part of the game. Your father hands you up to have your DNA analyzed and you get to pick out all your character traits. Your dad takes off his mask to reveal similar traits to the ones you picked.

- You grow up in the vault and as you grow you get your first book titled "You're Special" which allows you to choose you baseline stats for each of your 7 primary aptitudes. You'll also get your first weapons and wrist computer (menu) as you get older you'll take tests to determine the initial layout of your skills and traits.

- Every aspect of character creation is based on S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system. Of your 14 skills you can tag 3 to grow at a faster rate than the rest as you level up.

- Battle system is called the Vault-tec Assisted Targeting System (V.A.T.S.). The article states. "While you'll certainly be able to tackle enemies in real time using first person shooting, V.A.T.S. lets players pause time and select a target at their leisure". Battle system still uses action points, but once you've used them up you'll still be able to fight targets in real time while they charge back up.

- Game is still violent and gory. One of the featured screens is of a guy's head exploding in super gory detail. Apparently all gory deaths in the game will be in slow motion.

- More than one way to play the game. Go balls out and kill people, or sneak past situations, or perhaps talk your way out of situations.

- Enemies can target you just like you can target them, so you can get injured in very specific points on you body. This is in addition to an all new health/radiation system. This new system has you measuring how radiated certain things (like water) are and how they affect you when you consume them.

- Karma system returns

- XP based system, most XP comes from quests

- Level cap is 20

- 9 - 12 possible endings based on your actions in the game

- No level scaling like oblivion, you walk into a high level area, you die horribly.

- There are NPC's you can hire, but this is not a party based game.

Sounds more like they allow the option of third person, and have worked to make that a better experience than oblivion. It does refer to first person shooting as well.

there's definitely a paper there, if only on reputation transmission between electronic communities. this thread is actually a physical manifestation of my having ignored an attempt by someone else to communicate this reputation to me.

it definitely took the wind out of my "japan = soul cancer" sails. apparently liking anything is just plain bad.

Liking things should be okay if it's done with moderation and perspective.

But yeah, these levels of fanaticism are quite creepy.

Something kind of interesting is happening over at RPG Codex. Well, actually, it only gets interesting at the bottom of the second page (and after that).

(why was I at RPG Codex? because I like absurd fan-reaction drama, but I'm not ready to take a pure hit of something like NMA yet)

they had a super awesome daggerfall thread a while back. and it convinced me to check out arcanum.

as for the rest of it, well, whatever. we all gotta have hobbies, or bugaboos, or facial tics.

edit: the only thing that really gets my goat is the whole "game x is for dumb people; game y requires intelligence and amazing good looks and a 9" dick." that's so self-indulgent as to be nearly unbelievable.

eh, the targeting system sounds weird. i'm curious as to how it works, but the way its described is kinda gross.

but watching people grapple with the cruel and unfair mistress called reputational dynamics is always interesting.

edit: the fallout ironman threads are totally worth checking out.

Fallout's been popular with Russian kids ever since I was fourteen years old (which was like 10 years ago, sigh). The funniest thing, though, is that it only got officially localized just one year ago, like a million years after it's release in the West. Still, speaks volumes about its enduring relevance for Russians or something.

I'd go for it. Just pretend she's a "real" anime chick.

Shit, bionanotechnology may one day make it actually possible to have a functioning anime body in the real world.

Hmmm... wait a minute.

So if half or more of the fat bald pervs give all their money to "convert" the other ones, they could make their own little utopia out of each other.

Jus' thinkin'

So one could technically rebuild remnants of electronic technology by hand. The implications of this shouldn't be lost on Fallout fans: one can build they're very own water-chip with patience, hard-work, and some foundational technologies, like an adapted flame-thrower for instance. :joy:

I was in costume too, but for some damn reason couldn't end up meeting up with them for most of the con. Sad

Hey, redeye, what are some good mods for Fallout 1? Any high-rez/widescreen/fanpatches that I should install?

Also, that PS:Torment WS patch is really obnoxious. I'm debating on removing it.

I haven't tried much in the way of mods, but there are a handful of interesting things available.

NPC enhancement looks especially good.
