So, I asked on the IC forums and got no reply... I'm wondering if there are any games which control like NiGHTS, other than the slightly similar Ecco the Dolphin.

I'm writing an article, and can't think of any. It's my point, so it's okay if there aren't any others, but if there's a game that has similar control, I'd love to not sound ignorant.

Point me in the right direction, GQ!

I don't think one does. Whatever games I've played that do are so in the vaguely familiar sense, nothing too close - aside from Ecco, Sonic when being bounced around the pinball obstacles (speed mixed with point-to-point contact and trying to wrangle momentmum) and, for whatever reason, Nibbles.

Overall I would say there isn't. Okay, no. I'm going with no.

Christmas Nights would like to say hello and thank you for your interest.

i actually have this very cute shareware clone of nights, which i would in fact be willing to share with you, though i don't think it will help your article very much.

The movement and lawless attitude in Jet Grind Radio kind of reminded me of NiGHTS. Not only could you jet roller blade around the stages, but if ou wanted to, you could jump off walls, do multiple tricks, skate backwards... Almost like a dance. Dancing around a wacky surrealistic stage with cool music and a defitine fresh take on things.

Also! Rock N' Roll Racing.

I have a Saturn 3D pad but no copy of Nights! It is a shame!

Is it bad that I played the game a number of times when it came out but I can't remember how it controlled at all?

If it was transparent enough that you didn't really make note of it, it's probably a good thing! On the other hand, I never got the chance to play NiGHTS, so maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Only when positive reinforcement isn't involved.

You're doing great!! Don't worry about it!!!

Now, if a copy of Nights was thrown into the lend-lease community coffer, would the controller be a necessity?

it's part of this package, which is like usd5. it's called "qnJkhb" for some reason that boggles my mind.

i play through the whole game in the ridiculous hour-long movie i made, but you could buy and play it yourself in less time than it would take you to watch that.

Thanks so much everyone; we've confirmed what I believed -- there aren't any modern games that control like NiGHTS. It's a small bullet point in a larger article, and I didn't want to get it wrong.
