i sort of want to write some rambling hundred page non-narrative just to do it but i'm in the middle of enough projects as it is. also, i don't like the novel as a medium. _________________

I have this exact same problem. I only really have 3000 words at most (and half of them are written in a notebook, not typed) because of this. _________________ resetbutton.net: videogames for unattractive people |

meh, 8340-ish words. I planned on at least 10k by today. This isn't going well. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

Here's a hint: no one is going to read this!. So far 1000 words of my most recent 3K or so involve the main character getting from an intersection to a phonebooth and "not freaking out" getting there. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

One of my characters just started ranting about how brilliant Johnny's Odyssey is.
Man, writing a novel is fucked up. |

This is the second year I've attempted Nano, and will most likely be the second year I crash out with a pitiful score.
I got to about 850 words by the end of day 1 and have hardly progressed at all since then.
In fact, I think I deleted a third of it the other day.
Depending on how busy I am at work over the next couple of weeks, I guess I might be able to pull something back. It's not very likely though.
Although if I DO finish, it'll be the best goddam story you ever read. |

Sitting pretty right now at 18,897 words--a bit under par, but by far the longest continual work I've ever done. I'm really feeling good about the sheer amount of writing I've been able to do--granted, it's very very crappy, but it's one of those amazingly refreshing times in your life where you discover that you're capable of something you never thought of before.
Judging by where I am now in relation to my 6 pages of outline, there's no way I'll be able to finish this in only 50,000 words, though. |
